Saw the trailer before D&D. It looked - not good.

I keep hearing it'll make money in the billions and kick off the next big thing in the Nintendo Cinematic Universe, but I'm more skeptical then that for various reasons like Chris Pratt doesn't sound like Mario at all in the trailer.

We also don't really have the international numbers yet, just a hand full of smaller markets, not the big ones like Germany, Indonesia, China, Japan, Uk, Australia, etc..

$150 million before marketing, so $300 million worldwide is where they want to be st least.

BoxOfficeMojo is currently showing $15,300,000 so far, with only March 31 reporting. I've updated the roster.

That's $15.3M in the first day. Not too shabby! (Apparently, John Wick Chapter 4 earned $29.4M on its first day, according to BoxOfficeMojo.)

That doesn't matter too much for opening weekend. Right now projections are at around 125 million. This is a far, far bigger brand than D&D.

One thing that could hurt Mario is the Wednesday opening. If audiences react poorly too it, that could open up some space for D&D to attract families next weekend and over US spring break. D&D will need to hold above $30M next weekend to give it a shot at $150 or better total in the US. Great to see the international numbers so strong. I think it get's to $300M worldwide for sure, with a shot at $400M. The later would ensure a sequel, the former would likely depend on how much Hasbro is willing to pony up for a 2nd feature.
