There was also a clip shown at San Diego Comic Con where the party cast speak with dead, and got to ask five questions. Also, apparently, the D&D cartoon characters from the 80s have a cameo!

I'm almost certain he's a vengeance paladin, and yeah, an ex-Thayan who has grown out his hair and beard (perhaps not just to cover his tattoos but in defiance of the Thayan cultural hair taboo) makes a lot of sense. Plus "Xenk" as a name sounds kinda Thayan ...

In the comicbook.com interview, the interviewer straight up asks Regé-Jean about the mark on his character's forehead, and he replies that he's not allowed to say anything about it as it would be a big spoiler. So it's clearly important.

Well, my biological sister is in hell. She hates D&D and everything about it, but unfortunately she also LOVES watching Chris Pine.

Also, I’m thinking that the Bard, Barbarian, and Sorcerer represent the original players of a campaign, the Druid is the brand new player who thinks “you all are idiots but I’d like to try out this D&D game”, and the Paladin is the power gamer who joins the campaign about two-thirds of the way through.

FWIW there will be a tabaxi in the film. I just hope it doesn’t look like something out of Cats.

I hope they're not too anatomically correct, requiring lots of CGI post-processing.
