*waits for the inevitable comment on maddman's house rules by someone who doesn't realize maddman still plays a 3.0 game*

Banned Mirror Image no problem with the spell's power it is just a pain in the rear to adjudicate - laziness and ease of play prevails.

Resurrection always costs PCs a level - sometimes due to the circumstances of a death True Resurrection is called for, but there is still an XP penalty.

I allow everything else in my current campaign, but I do not agree that banning spells is purely laziness. Lots of folks want to play D&D where there are no hasted, invisible, flying wizards casting time stop and placing a bunch of delayed fireballs. That's just not their vision of a fun fantasy game, and there is nothing about it being the easy way out.

However, I am a lazy guy and if a spell's a pain and slows the game down too much - it's outta here!

House ruled a few in our 3.0 game, but never banned any.

But now I'm also running an AU game and it is not an issue - at least yet as we are just taking the rules for there first run ;)

- You cannot teleport to a place you haven't physically been. Solves the scry-buff-teleport issue
In my campaign, psychoportation powers have been harnessed per an idea someone had (ideas aren't copyrightable by the way, the U.S. Copyright Office sez so). Teleport, psionic has been embedded in devices that help you bridge certain chasms. The same with dimension door, psionic. I've been tinkering with ideas on a culture that harnesses and incorporates psychokinesis and other psionic disciplines into technology. The most incorporated is psychokinesis, since a kinetic (savant) uses psychokinesis to control kinetic energy. The least incorporated is metacreativity, since most shapers do not embed their powers into tech. They use their powers to help create tech, but not to allow tech to create something.

None. I have yet to ever ban a spell. I thinking banning a spell is admitting defeat.
:D I admit defeat with Anti-Magic Field, which is the only PHB spell banned in my games at the moment. I hate the sudden shift in tactics, which AMF introduces. It's also way too strong for its level.

Find the Path is also under consideration, but I haven't banned it yet. Although I propably will...

Well, I use a home brew, less fantasy, less magic, so no travel spells (teleport and the like) and I changed Raise Dead a bit.

I haven't banned any because of balance issues, yet...
