# (IC) Against the Giants PBP Group 1

#### FitzTheRuke

##### Legend
Both the orog and the curious orc were caught completely off-guard as Quinn caused roots and vines to burst out of the dirt around them, wrapping first their legs, and then their arms and shoulders with writhing rope-like plants.

 OOC: Stuck! Entangle dc18 STR save Orog5: 1D20+4 = [2]+4 = 6 Orc5: 1D20+4 = [2]+3 = 5

#### Lidgar

##### Gongfarmer
Briefly staggered by the Orog's blows, Jack dropped Darling and gritted his teeth as he drew The Knife.

Die! hissed Jack in orcish as he stabbed towards the brute's throat.

 OOC: Jack attacks Orog #4. Sneak attack with dagger of venom: 1D20+10 = [19]+10 = 29 1D4+6+5D6 = [2]+6+[2, 4, 1, 3, 6] = 24

#### Hriston

##### Dungeon Master of Middle-earth
"Throw a javelin at me, will ya?" Bible asks as she stands from ducking and moves up to the edge of the writhing roots.

"It takes two to play that game, WHAM!" she says as she picks up one of her axes and throws it at the restrained orog.

 OOC: Bible moves to DG-91 to retrieve her axe. Handaxe attack with advantage: 2D20.HIGH(1)+9 = [3, 13]+9 = 22 Damage: 1D6+7 = [1]+7 = 8

Figuring the orc caught in the roots will likely join the party's cause, Bible tries to grab and pull it to safety.

OOC: Strength (Athletics) with advantage: 2D20.HIGH(1)+9 = [4, 5]+9 = 14 Whoops, that should have been a normal roll, so the result's a 13 for the grapple check, I guess.

##### Legend
The half-ogre in the tunnel raised his axe up, knocking dirt from the ceiling as he brought it down once more toward Jack. Jack was quick, and he dropped his crossbow and a dagger was in his hand, which he stuck into the orog's throat. The orog gurgled, and his mighty blow weakened as Jack rolled his shoulder, lessening the impact.

The orcs surrounded the orog pounding on him with pick and morningstar. But the half-ogre's heavy armor took the worst of the blows. Though it was bloodied and gurgling, the brute refused to go down.

Further south, Bible picked up an axe and threw it at the orog who was stuck in Quinn's vines. She tried to pull out the orc who was also in the vines, but he was stuck fast. The orog, however, having been bashed with a hand-axe, suddenly tore free and began to run toward the east.

OOC: Jack did 24 to Orog4; Bible did 8 to Orog5, grabbed orc5; Orog4 got Jack for 7 (so 3 with uncanny dodge); Orcs got Orog4 for 7; Orog5 escaped the entangle, but Orc5 did not. Still @Shadowedeyes Valda, @TerraDave Tenibor, & @Blue Eoghan to go for the round.

##### 5ever, or until 2024
Tenibor heads about 15 feet south--though he tries to otherwise stay out of the way.

He is not worried about the current combat and does not attack. He is worried about the current combat getting much harder, and will keep his eyes and ears very open for any sound of encroaching giants.

(Perception 22).
Continue to listen.

"Erm, excuse me, pardon me."

Eoghan made his way to be in front of the orcs so he could see what's going on.

He looked at the closest Half-Ogre, "Giant wannabe, you're shorter both on top and on bottom than any of the dwarves."

OOC: Vicious Mockery: DC 17 WIS save or 3 psychic damage and disadvantage on next attack. Vicious Mockery: 2D4 = [1, 2] = 3

Valda shifts her bow to one hand, while drawing her sword with her other, thrusting it into the chaos of melee in front of her to try to take down the orog.

 OOC: +1 Longsword Attack Rolls: 1D20+9 = [13]+9 = 22 1D20+9 = [1]+9 = 10 +1 Longsword Damage Rolls: 1D8+7 = [6]+7 = 13 Also currently not using a shield, so AC is 17.

#### FitzTheRuke

##### Legend
While the orog blocking the tunnel bashed at Jack, Valda drew her sword and skewered the brute, who dropped his axe and fell to the floor.

Eoghan pushed his way through the crowd of orcs and mocked the orog who was running to the east. For a brief moment, the orog slowed, as if considering turning around to fight, but he continued eastward.

Tenibor listened. As the din of battle died down, his elven ears picked up a sound that had been hidden behind the others. The deep, low rumble of a giant snoring - like two large stones being rubbed together - coming from forward and to the east.

OOC: Valda killed Orog4; Eoghan mocked Orog5; Tenibor listened (I felt like rewarding you for your tenacity to the tactic).

Seeing that her effort to free the restrained orc failed, Bible picks up her other axe, wanting to pursue the fleeing orog before it alerts the sleeping giants, and thinks to the druid as quick as thought, ~<If you could poskibly untangle these roots from blockin' the enktrance, Quinn me love, it would be most appreshkiated.>~

Quinn hears Bible request and stops concentrating on the magic that is animating the roots.

It is done.

He then pushes through the others to move further into the room hoping to get close enough to send a ball of fire at the fleeing Orog.

OOC: I will drop concentration on the entangle. I will then move into the room. Not sure if I can move past the throng of orcs or how far I can get. I'm pretty sure I don't have the movement to get in range of the Orog. Let me know if I am wrong about that.

##### Gongfarmer
Nodding at Valda, Jack picked up his crossbow from the cavern's floor and leapt over the fallen Orog. He then utilized his many years of experience fighting in back alleys to shoulder his way past the orcs and Eoghan and join Bible's side. Once there, he lowered Darling at the fleeing Orog and fired.

 OOC: Jack uses cunning action to dash to DF90 and attack Orog #5. Attack with light crossbow: 1D20+10 = [8]+10 = 18 1D8+6 = [6]+6 = 12

Seeing the roots begin to wilt, Bible charges through them, scattering crumbling chunks of root and dust as she sprints to head off the fleeing orog. Catching up with her quarry, she circles around it, blocking its path of escape as she takes a low stance and thumps her axe once against her shield with a look on her face that says Fight me!

 OOC: Bible dashes to DP-90.

Valda slips down left most corridor, moving quickly to make sure the passageway is clear.

OOC: Valda dashes as well, I think I can get to DN-82, but in case I miscalculated, going as far down that passageway as I can.

##### 5ever, or until 2024
With Valda leading the way, and hopefully clearing some of the ruble, Tenibor will carefully follow, heading to and then through the tunnel at DG85. He will keep listening.

#### FitzTheRuke

##### Legend
Everyone set out at a run, pushing past orcs, dwarves, and (in a few cases) each other. Quinn brought down his entangling vines, and Bible let the orc that she'd been pulling free go, and ran past another, frightened but aggressive orc, who held up his pick menacingly but only watched as the sailor ran past. She would have been hard-pressed to catch up to the fleeing orog, had he not stumbled when Jack's quarrel struck him in the back.

She caught up and swung around the orog as he turned to confront her, swinging his axe. She ducked the first blow but he followed through with an elbow that thumped her shoulder - nothing that she couldn't handle.

Corbit couldn't stand waiting while her captain was down a dark tunnel, facing who-knows-what danger. So she pushed her way past orcs, who were fleeing into the crypt-barracks, and began to squeeze her shaggy ape-form down the tunnel calling (in a deep voice that was hard to understand), "Keppkun Bobbah! Whad fferr mee! Ahm kummunh!"

Valda led the way down a side-tunnel, with Tenibor and the dwarf Harmock following. The elf listened, and from the sounds echoing through the tunnels, he could tell that there was, indeed, a way that this tunnel connected to the other. In addition, he could discern no other sounds that suggested any danger in going this way.

OOC: Jack did 12 to Orog5, who did 7 to Bible. Everyone else dashed (Quinn would have to in order to be in sight of much of anything). @Blue - I need Eoghan's turn to roll the round.

Eoghan curses the Orog attacking Bible soundly, slinging vicious invectives at it.

OOC: Oh shoot, sorry! Mea culpa. Vicious Mockery, don't have much else left. DC 15 WIS save or 5 psychic damage and disadvantage on next attack. Vicious Mockery: 2D4 = [1, 4] = 5

#### FitzTheRuke

The orog ignored Eoghan's curses entirely.

OOC: Oh, man. Sorry I took so long to roll this round. I'd forgotten that it was ready to go. Orogdc15 WIS save: 1D20 = [19] = 19

With Bible providing a needed distraction, Jack reloaded Darling while striding forward toward the remaining Orog. He then aimed carefully at it's left kidney and fired.

 OOC: Jack moves to DI 90 and attacks Orog5. Sneak attack with light crossbow: 1D20+10 = [14]+10 = 24 1D8+6+5D6 = [2]+6+[2, 3, 4, 3, 4] = 24
