# (IC) Against the Giants PBP Group 1

#### FitzTheRuke

##### Legend
It was grizzly work, but it had to be done: Jack and Bible thrust their blades - dagger and sword - into the sleeping giant while Valda moved to join them. The giant wheezed as it died, and the other stirred, disturbed by the motion and now realizing that something was up in their small chamber.

OOC: That does finish off the further-in giant. I'll let Valda attack the waking one with advantage (as it will certainly still be prone, if awake. For clarity's sake: I made it a dc15 Perception Check for the giant to notice the other one as it died, and unfortunately: Perception Check: 1D20+4 = [16]+4 = 20 the dice didn't go your way. Still, Valda can attack as it begins to shuffle to its feet, and then I'll post a round-roller. Others will hear the noise and be able to act on round one, but wait until I post the roller (which will be after @Shadowedeyes Valda gets to take her strike.)

Valda, seeing the other giant start to wake, calls upon her runic magic to grow in size, enlarging as she brought her sword down at the stone giant once, and then twice.

##### Legend
As the giant woke and began to rise, Valda grew and thrust her sword into him. He reached out and shoved her away. She was standing very close to the steep tunnel that lead back down to where the others waited, and she lost her footing and slid down the steep slope on her back. Meanwhile, the giant scrambled to reach for his club.

OOC: Valda did 28 before the giant shoved her. Giant's shove (athletics) check was just silly: Check: 1D20+12 = [20]+12 = 32so I don't think there's much point in her rolling against it. She will fall prone down it, but that still has the benefit of alerting the others, who are waiting at the bottom. Despite what it looks (when you see the map) there is almost no line-of-sight up the 15-feet of difficult terrain that leads up to the chamber with the giants in it.

Eoghan rushed up to next to Valda, but was unable to see the giants. He watched around in case any enemies did come into view.

OOC: Based on the comment about "little line of sight", I'm going with a 30' move would not get Eoghan to where he could do a Vicious Mockery. He moves to get to DX88 and readies Vicious Mockery against the first enemy he sees. Just to give you the dice, IF there's an opponent at any point, it's DC 16 WIS or 5 psychic + disadv. Vicious Mockery: 2D4 = [2, 3] = 5

OOC: Good choice. It's fifteen feet of dark, steep, lumpy rock tunnel leading up to a ledge with an open chamber beyond. The giant has to squeeze through it. From the bottom, you might be able to catch a glimpse of a big boot or something when the giant moves, but we'd be hard pressed to imagine the giant paying any attention to you calling insults up at him.

Jack squeezed past Bible and moved to encircle the giant while keeping the passageway open for his allies. Once positioned, he struck out with his dagger again, aiming for the giant's heel.

 OOC: Jack moves to EB93 and attacks. Sneak attack with dagger of venom: 1D20+10 = [5]+10 = 15 1D4+6+5D6 = [4]+6+[3, 4, 5, 6, 2] = 30 Miss, bummer.

Quinn moves forward trying to get a view of the remaining stone giant. As he moves a ball of fire appears in his hand. Seeing the giant moving around Quinn lobs the ball of fire at the giant.

OOC: Move: Moving up to DY90 Action: Produce Flame attack against Stone Giant: 1d20+10 13 2d8 4

Although uninjured from being knocked on her ass by the giant, she found it embarrassing and seethed silently as she scrambled to her feet. She stalks back towards the giant with murder on her mind.

 OOC: I'm not sure if I can reach back to the giant in one move and attack. If not, I'll dodge. +1 Longsword Attack Rolls: 1D20+9 = [12]+9 = 21 1D20+9 = [17]+9 = 26 +1 Longsword Damage with Giants Might: 1D8+7+1D6 = [8]+7+[1] = 16 +1 Longsword Damage: 1D8+7 = [5]+7 = 12

Pulling her sword from the stony body of the dead giant, Bible turns and slashes twice at the one newly risen to its feet.

"&!* &\$!" she exclaims as her blade fails to bite into the stony flesh but merely scrapes its surface, causing sparks to fly.

#### FitzTheRuke

##### Legend
Eoghan looked up the short but steep rocky slope. All he could make out was the giant's boot in a quick flash as the latter moved to grab a club. Then Valda grew large and blocked the hall, moving past Quinn who had stepped in front of her and thrown a little ball of fire. (His flames had scattered on the ground between the giant's feet.)

In the chamber, Jack ducked through the giant's legs and tried to slash his heel, but his knife slid along boot and stony flesh without going through. Bible thrust her blade into the giant's side, leaving a mark, but her second thrust sparked harmlessly as the giant raised his club and brought it down hard on the sailor.

Then Valda climbed into the chamber and beat the giant back, getting in two solid blows before taking a club to her shoulder in return. Down behind Eoghan, Cordit looked up and howled in frustration that she couldn't find room to come and help, while Tenibor stood behind her with the dwarf Harmock with no sight lines through which to cast spells.

OOC: Eoghan waited; Jack & Quinn missed; Valda did 28; Bible did 14; Cordit, Harmock, & Tenibor Watched; Giant did 22 to Bible & 18 to Valda.

Jack danced around the giant's huge legs, lashing out again with his dagger. He grinned as the enchanted steel finally bit into the stony skin.

#### FitzTheRuke

##### Legend
The giant roared, like the sound of two boulders tumbling down a mountain, as Jack stabbed him in the calf, then rolled away as Quinn's flame burst on and around the giant's legs. The giant brought his club down where Jack had been a moment before, and then swung it around, striking Valda on the backswing.

OOC: Jack did 25 & Quinn did 13 fire to the Stone Giant, who did 25 to Valda. @Hriston, @Blue & @Shadowedeyes, you're up!

Pain lanced through her from the giant's club, but she gritted her teeth and struck back with two swings of her longsword. while her first strike managed to land, the pain hindered the second as it failed to find an opening.

##### Dungeon Master of Middle-earth
As the giant follows through on its backswing, Bible lunges in beneath its extended arm and thrusts her blade up at the spot under its ribcage, aiming for its lungs and heart.

#### FitzTheRuke

##### Legend
Valda knocked the giant back with one of her blows before taking a strike in return, and Bible lunged under the giant's arm, thrusting the blade deep. The giant let out a grinding wheeze and fell to the ground with a thunderous thump.

 OOC: Giant's down. End Combat.

~<Why not give it a quick search?>~, Eoghan sent a thought arrowing towards those in the sleeping chamber.

OOC: @FitzTheRuke could we see a larger map of the area we are in? Jack would be in favor of pushing forward, trying to find a different exit, as bringing this many folks up through the chimney sounds sketchy at best. Have we asked the prisoners already if they are aware of a different exit (other than the stairs we came down)?
