Legend
They did the grizzly deed of putting down the last giant, who laughed as he died, run through by Waythe. The sword was disappointed by the act, and said to Kahru as their shared blood-lust abated, "How sad. Pathetic even, to bite an opponent who can't fight back."

But the deed was done. They quickly searched the bodies, finding only a small amount of stollen coin from the human kingdoms among other useless oversized trinkets. (OOC: About 40gp)

However, the houndsman carried what would have been like a crop to him, but was more akin to a full-sized whip to the smaller folk. It was woven with chord and wolf-hair, and enchanted with primal magic (the giant-rune for "obedience" was clearly visible among other lesser-known glyphs).

The giantess had an emblem that was almost certainly infused with other magic. It was iron forged into a triangle, with a single upward line at the center of its base, on a leather necklace adorned with various rocks and teeth.

The Colonel looks at the slaughter around them, and nods to his companions. "We've prevented reinforcements. That's good. There won't be more coming from the outside for at least a while now, I expect. And we can now move again on the palisade and not fear a rear attack. If we wanted, we coul even try to draw some more out, maybe deplete the forces of those inside a bit more...?"

He leaves the suggestion hanging to see if others like the thought.

He looks to the necklace, considering what sorts of creatures the teeth might have originally come from.

Kahru was as disappointed as Waythe with the final slaying of the laughing giant, he did not enjoy it, but as a soldier accepted the necessity in war.

As they search the bodies and gathered in the loot, he looked at the giantess’ necklace and it’s talisman, wondering if that had been a focus of her power over rock. But his true interest was with the wolf-hair whip that the cursed houndmaster had wielded against the Dire wolves.
Waythe do you know of this wolf hair whip?” Kahru inquired of the great sword “there is magic in it, giant magic and rune of obedience

Legend
Waythe had no knowledge of the whip, but speculated that was used to keep the dire-wolves at heel. She preferred freedom (or death, which she considered a form of freedom) to obedience.

Legend
When the group was ready, they made the trip back toward the Steading. They circled eastward, to come up to it from behind the usual lookout behind a Tor, where they found Donnell, Cromby, and Siersha, watching the Steading. It was getting on supper-time and Cromby was slicing hard cheese to go on even harder biscuits and handing them to Donnell and Siersha, who were keeping one eye on the Steading, and one on the surrounding hills (in case of being discovered and assaulted from behind).

Siersha saw the group coming, and she waved for them to come up.

OOC: There's not much for them to report, but if you want to wait for dark, to FINALLY execute Kahru's night-attack, you've got about two hours. You can take a Short Rest, no problem.

The Colonel, now wearing the necklace if only to help in carrying it, rejoins the group and touches base with Donnell. "How's it going, lad? You're prepared to return? We'll want you focused."

The short rest passes smoothly, as the begin to plan the twilight assault.

OOC: Spend 5 dice: 5d8+10=31. 31/66+31=62/66 hit points (EDIT: +13 THP) Almost full.
Spells: 3/4 3/3 3/3 2/3 1/1 (got a lot of mileage out of that Call Lightning!).
Channel Divinity 2/2.

Gimlak is silent. The others can see him take a dagger and cut his hand, then drink from a vial. This seems to energize him.

the others are now used to him chanting, and once done, they also feel energized.

OOC: everybody gets 13 thp

Doc walked quietly along with the group after the brief siesta. As he slowly pulled the embers of another cheroot into him, he couldn't help but think back to the carnage he just saw. Reckon the Sheriff sent me to the right place if it's more souls he's lookin' for. Still, Doc always believed that a man don't mind bein' killed fightin' for his life, but no one wants to be shot down like a dog in the street without no weapons to speak of.

He took another pull of strong likker and continued moseying with the group, keeping the spirits within him at bay and trying to focus on the upcoming assault.

OOC:
Spends 1 hit dice.
Rest: 1D8+4 = [4]+4 = 8
