(IC - D&D 3.5) Rathan's Problem Down Under

Berrek with your well retained knowledge of flesh golems... you think you remember hearing they are actually weak to one of the most basic forms of attack.... slashing of it's flesh rather than piercing or bludgeoning.....

Menhir your move and blow rings true and the golem takes the majority of your massive damage but some of it still seems to be deflected.... as you are closest you would note that flesh is not hanging on by anything more than mere bone and metal in some spots of this construct leading you to believe it is pretty wounded now....

Eltyr notes no other visible enemies within his range of sight....

(Round 3 or 4... can't remember heh)

5 moves to the edge of the entanglement after making another well placed set of saves to avoid being immobilized...

Eltyr's crossbow shot rings true as he strikes the golem in the leg... however the blt barely makes a scratch in the golems hard outer fleshy casing.. though he does do a little damage....

3 Moves for his closest opponent in line of slight which is Eltyr and moves almost to within melee and as it gets closer Anton can tell this undead is a bit more powerful that that of a normal zombie... by studying it for a moment he can tell it's a Ghoul.....

Anton takes up a neutral position nearly smack dab in the middle of his enemies like a beacon calling all attacks....

Berrek misses 6 with his crossbow this time unfortunately yet he detects no other magic auras other than nacromancy that more than like created this abomination in the first place...

Lidia's sphere of fire chars 3 a good bit further however it does continue to trudge on after Eltyr who has already moves back to try and keep 3 from reaching him......

Poor 2 still fails to break free from the grass' relentless grasp....

6 swings down over Menhir's head catching the elemental over the shoulder for a total of 8 damage...

Menhir your second mighty blow is just TOO much for this lesser golem that was already wounded when you arrived here with your friends... you can hear it's frame give way in a horrid shreek of metal and snapping of wood and bone as it collapses to the ground.... you duck quickly within the ground once more to head level and survey some of the battle field... your vision is blocked partially by the golems lifeless heap on the ground but you can see most everything important....

Seemingly fluid like water, the earth elemental sinks down to its knees away from the undead's strike. Then, surging up quickly, Menhir rises to its full height out of the ground while raising a massive blocky forelimb up above the undead. Continuing its arcing motion, the elemental brings its full weight down upon the undead like a crashing wave of stone. Menhir allows its downward momentum to carry it as it sinks down into the earth and out of sight.

[sblock=OOC]Repeating melee attack upon #6. Power Attack for +1. Melee slam +12 (1d6+16). Attacks gain the adamantine property for the purpose of overcoming DR. If #6 remains standing Menhir will take a five-foot-step down to gain full cover from the earth. If #6 falls, Menhir will keep its head out of the ground and so only gain partial cover.[/sblock]

Anton Hill - HP: 25/25 - AC: 21 - Enlarged

Anton spots the fleshy golem fall to Menhir's overwhelming blasts and realizes that his help is not needed there. Instead he turns and spots a ghoul breaking free from the shrubberies. He points at it with his mace, "Unholy blight, you are not like the others! Go back to your death!"

Use 4th and final turn attempt on the Ghoul (3).

As the undead creature approaching seems intent on following him, Eltyr moves his free hand through a familiar series of arcane gestures as he chants, replicating the elements of the first spell he cast exactly, as if from long practice, and releases another greenish hued arrow at the undead monster, before backing off yet again to put some distance between himself and his foe.

[SBLOCK=OOC]Eltyr casts Melf’s acid arrow at enemy 3 [+4 ranged touch spells (incl. bless)] and backs off to O-32 ... oops Eltyr fell off the map. ;) [/SBLOCK]

Berrek reloads his crossbow and shoots closest enemy now that golem is dealt with. He is still on his guard trying to spot hidden enemies or defend from sudden attack from visible enemies.

He is, however, more at ease because it seems this ambush is NOT connected to starfall. He hopes that even scorching visible will be shown to be last defense of those bodies that didn't rise to attack them.

Having downed the golem and seeing its companions focusing their aggression upon the nearest undead to them, the earth elemental turns to regard the remaining two creatures. Preparing for a charge, Menhir's featureless stone head slides effortlessly along the ground towards the next undead to emerge from the entwining grasses. Rising up out of the earth like a cresting wave, the elemental once more brings its full mass and momentum crashing down upon the doomed creature.

OOC: Performing a charge against #5. Power Attacking for +2. Melee slam +13 (1d6+18). Attacks gain the adamantine property for the purpose of overcoming DR.

Seeing the undead approaching, Lidia has a bit of a dilemma. Does she bravely hold her ground and carry on with what she was doing or does she retreat?

Deciding that in this case audacity will win the day, she maintains her position and moves her fireball so that it starts incinerating the shambling dead.

[sblock="Only if 5 is attacking Lidia"]At the same time as moving her fireball, Lidia draws her cudgel and attempts to bash 5''s brains in.[/sblock] [sblock="Mechanics"]Flaming Sphere. Moves 30', Deals 2d6, Reflex save negates.

If "3" is still animated, is in range and can be incinerated without damaging any of the party; attack "3". Alternatively, If "5" is still animated and can be incinerated without damaging any of the party; attack "5". Otherwise, attack "2".

5 moves to close with Anton however Anton has a 10 foot reach at the moment and knocks a nice shot into 5 before he closes fully to melee... (Anton deals 10 damage to the undead using a large sized weapon that he currently wields... I also need a Fort Save DC 14 please from you Anton... failure means your are sickened for 9 minutes unless you are immune to posion...)

Eltyrs magic arrow finds it's mark and downs 3 before it's able to advance any further on his allies....

(This action is based on a successful save from above)Anton notes 3's failure to remain upright and turns his attempt at holy retribution on 5 who closes on him with wrathful intent! The attempt is successful in damaging it with his turn but he can tell this undead is even more powerful than the ghoul... yet his insight fails to tell him at the moment exactly what type of undead this is (botched on on a religion roll to identify this different type of undead)... 5 still remains standing.

Berrek takes looks to take a shot at 3 but notes he goes down under Eltyrs acid arrow and turns to fire at five.. even with the penalty for firing into melee Berrek is BARELY able to inch out a shot to 5's leg injuring a little bit further.

Lidia's fireball assaults 5 as well weakening it to the point where it just barely looks to remain standing but it somehow remains standing though not by much...

Poor 2 is still trapped witnin the now burning new growth of entangling grass.. the flaming sphere had set the new growth ablaze last round and now engulfed the whole magicly effected area and lit up the area like a VERY big roman candle.... more than likely 2 would not be suspected to survive another around in such hot and flaming surroundings.. especially while trapped...

(Menhir as you charge in I need a DC 14 Fort save from you as well... failure would result in being sickened for 7 rounds unless immune to poison.. your actions here as well depend on your fort roll and not being immune to poison) Your charge seems to do just the trick as you come down on 5 like literally a ton of stone bricks caving his chest in with a mighty blow causing it to crumple to the ground with a resounding thud....

Only 2 remains but with 1 HP left and he being on fire and still trapped I deem this combat to be over.... you guys can watch with glee as 2 burns slowly to even more of a crispy critter..... you all gain 1300 xp..... I will update more on the next coming few moments after fort rolls and after I get some sleep heh....
