D&D 5E (IC) Fitz's Folly

Round 3

OOC: LOL If only I were a real ranger with Hunter’s Mark!

Dellrak cursed. He’d hit the bloody thing, but hadn’t downed it, which was lucky, because Qawasha might not have survived.

Planar Warrior: As a bonus action, choose one creature you can see within 30 feet of you. The next time you hit that creature on this turn with a weapon attack, all damage dealt by the attack becomes force damage, and the creature takes an extra 1d8 force damage from the attack. When you reach 11th level in this class, the extra damage increases to 2d8.
Primeval Awareness (action and spell slot): For one minute per level of spell slot, detect within 1 mile (6 in favored terrain) aberrations, celestials, dragons, elementals, fey, fiends, and undead. This feature doesn’t reveal the creatures’ location or number.

Harb followed his target from above, while doing his best to stay out of sight should more appear and checking the skies every chance he had. He had the advantage of height on this creature at least, and the advantage of needing to move somewhat shorter distances to achieve the same effective travel in relation to the mountain itself.

OOC: Assuming the combat is over for Harb and his target at least. I'll post a couple skill checks I can think of and let you call for any others you might want.

Rodrigo vs Pterafolk4

Rodrigo ducked under a wing and skewered the creature in the ribs, then he took a few steps to the side and twisted his rapier free. The winged terror lunged forward, but before it could get at him, it expired from a collapsed lung and fell to the ground. Rodrigo rushed to the cliffside to look down over Miss Imogen as she considered how best to approach rescuing Tarri.

GM: I'm not sure if this combat is done, but I want to show you the map first.
Damage Taken:
(BGs) Pterafolk4 12 & 11 (Dead); (PCs) None; (NPCs) None

Location: Cliffs of Mbala; Encounter: Terror Folk

End Round Three; Begin Round Four or End?

GM: It depends on if you want to let them go from here. It's a long drop for either NPC if you down their captor.

OOC: Reminders: Qawasha is 20' down from the cliff (D to H 41) and 120' above anything that he could land on (off the map at the bottom). Tarri is 40' above the trail on the right edge of the map. Miss Imogen is 10' above her and perched on a rock on the cliffside 20' below Rodrigo. Nearly all of the darker gray is sheer cliff. The lighter brown is the flat(ish) surfaces.

If you just want to let them go, they will fly around the corner to the left and we can switch into non-combat. There's a few things you'll have to deal with before you can go tracking them. I don't think even Miss Imogen can just follow them. They will fly out over open air pretty fast. There's actually not a lot of trees on the cliff. Keep in mind that overall this cliff is 1800 feet above the swamp below...

Rodrigo's arms fell to his side, dropping out of guard. They had broken formation, and for their mistake 2 members - important ones! - would probably perish. He was powerless to stop it. He gritted his teeth, and tried to see where they were going.

Perhaps Qawasha would use some druididic trick to escape?

Miss Imogen sees Tarry below her, and jumps.

It's 50 feet to the trail below, and so she doesn't want to miss, and she hopes that the sudden extra force of her pulling the cartographer to the ground will cause the Pterafolk to let go, or at least drop ten or twenty feet before she pulls her free.

Then it's just a matter of putting her body below Tarri's when they land.

She has healing potions on her, the ones that Undril SIlvertusk had entrusted her with, and as long as she remains conscious at the bottom of this, it's just possible that both she and the cartographer will be fine tomorrow morning.

Her feet leave the ground, and Miss Imogen feels wind in her hair and nothing but the canopy below her.

OOC: So I hope this works. Jumping down and not needing extra distance, I think everything she's doing is Acrobatic and not Athletic. She's not grappling the Pterafolk (in that she doesn't want to constrain it necessarily, but just to deliver a blunt force hit and hopefully make it lose height). Then it's trusting that she has enough hp to survive the remaining fall and give out a healing potion to Tarri.
