Round 7

“We need t’ get the boy!” Angis answered Dandin, clearly upset at the prospect of losing Lionel. Oh, what would his mother say! And she would have every right to berate Angis for his failure.

Angis let the crossbow swing down on its sling as he charged forward, drawing one of the axes at his belt. He swung wildly at the goblin holding Lionel, but the creature was too shifty. With his free hand, Angis tried to grab Lionel.

Enseth was confronted with a difficult choice: to rescue people on the beach by killing one goblin and let the boat leave - a pretty safe choice - or save more of them by putting himself at high risk.
Since his existence had no actual value compared to living beings, the calculation was quickly done. Turning his light toward the boat, Enseth started running with heavy steps, avoiding the goblins on the way. Once he reached the ship, he grabbed the side of the boat with a firm grip (meaning by that: forget it, the boat won't go anywhere now, party is over) and dazzling the hobgoblin, he said with his deep voice:

"My weapons are loaded and ready.
Don't try anything stupid, you can't stop me. Ask your dead Captain.
You now have 3 seconds to jump off this boat and leave, or you will join him. And don't forget your little friends."

Arm raised toward the hobgoblin, making an energy charging sound,
"Two seconds. You've chosen the wrong beach, pal... One second, last chance..."

Legend
Angis & Lionel

Angis rushed to the unconscious Lionel's aid, swiping at the nimble goblin, who ducked under his axe. He grabbed at Lionel with his free hand, but the goblin tugged the halfling away and rushed for the boat. Lionel moaned as he bumped over the shield-wall and landed in the oar-well.

Soft hands propped him up and he could just hear voices over the ringing in his ears that said, "Is he going to be all right?" followed by "He's been hit on the head, but I think he'll live. Let me look at that leg." and the first voice said, "He tried to save me!" and the second replied, "Yes, he's very brave."

Legend
Dandin & Snake

Dandin mocked the goblin as it ran away. It's head hurt, and it couldn't tell why the halfling made it so frustrated, angry, and upset. So on it ran, weaving between enemies until it was nearly at the raiding boat.

Snake ran as fast as he could, until he had caught up to Angis. He was ready for a spell, in case a goblin got it in it's vile little head to attack him, but they all were running for the raiding boat.

Legend
Enseth

Enseth strode forward and grabbed the prow of the raiding-boat. He issued threatening commands to the last remaining hobgoblin, who considered them seriously: He had not nearly enough crew to properly launch his boat. He could force the prisoners to row, but it would take time to organise. Time he didn't have with that big shiny construct and the dwarf with the crossbow. Not enough goblins were returning to the boat. He would be punished for cowardice if he chose to flee. Punished for failure if he let the prisoners go. But these 'civilised' creatures were known for treating prisoners softly, relative to his people.

"We surrender. You win!" he said in thickly accented common and he threw down his axe and his bow. He looked out on the river and thought that it wouldn't be long before he was rescued, anyway.

The goblins looked around at each other and threw down their weapons as well.

GM: End of combat.

As soon as the hobgoblin throws his weapons, Enseth starts pushing the boat.

"Master Drui, get the wounded onboard if you don't mind , we are leaving urgently. Reinforcements are coming from the East."

Looking at the Hob/gobs, "YOU! Get to work!"

Talking gently and pleasantly to everyone onboard while pushing, "Congratulations, you have been rescued. Please keep calm and stay positive. We are controlling the situation. "

Enseth takes a note for later in his unfailing memory, "Search guidelines about How to talk to victims, assistance and management."

Dandin watched things come to a head and then finally settle down. Then he looked about the beach. Looking to Janis he said. "We'd better hurry, that group up the hill will wake up soon, and I think they were calling in some friends!"

That said, he wasn't sure how he could help, trying to carry anyone would probably be pointless. Instead, he ran back to the boat and started trying to help get it ready to re-launch.

Legend
Marigold Skippingstones

Marigold looked down at the halfling in her care. He had a good, kind face and calloused working-hands. His leg had a goblin arrow in it, and he'd been hit on the head. She looked around and saw that the goblins were well in-hand and wouldn't see her cast a spell. She did not want to be a 'valuable slave'. She said a prayer to Chauntea and put her hand on the halfling's chest while quickly removing the arrow from his leg.

The welt on his head disappeared and the arrow-wound closed to a star-shaped scar and a rip in his pant-leg. His eyes fluttered open. They were nice eyes. "Welcome back, hero!" she said enthusiastically.
