D&D 5E (IC) Scourge of Daggerford

Drui begins cleaning his hammer with a blood-stained rag, watching the conversation. He can't make out what Angis is saying, but he feels quite familiar with more universal forms of language. He tries to read the fear in the hobgoblin's face as his dwarf companion goes on, evaluating the results and contemplating the impact of Enseth's shadow over the creature. Both warriors make for imposing figures in Drui's eyes, contrasting with the half-sleep greenskin, now bound in ropes. This would be an interesting measure of his dignity: would he stand his ground, or would he break? Others might consider this a minor event, but to Drui it might well define the temperament of his adversaries. Branding this single creature a coward would make him see the greenskins as ravagers and mercenaries, no better than the scarce advantages their weapons might provide. But should this one stand, should this one show some sort of pride or, at the very least, self-entitlement, perhaps one might consider these poor creatures to bear brave, struggling souls within their bosoms. In fact, Drui still wrestled with the notion that these creatures, albeit cruel, might deserve some shred of respect.

He sniffs and keeps to himself for the time being.

[OOC:I want to map the creature's reactions to the questions, as well as any acts of intimidation. It's most RP, but if a test is needed, please, let me know. It will define how Drui treats these goblinoids later on, if need be - at least, in my head. Or... Am I going too far? Please, let me know. It's the first time I play as a player in... eleven years?]

Realizing his spell may not be needed, Dandin sets down his materials and runs to fetch the cart. There was loot to be had, and no point in hauling it across a field.

Squirrels are evil!

Tommi concludes his search of the building, and comes out to witness the interrogation of a bugbear. In his hand is an apple that had spilled to the floor inside, into which he takes a large bite.

Angis interviewed the remaining Bugbear as Enseth stood there menacingly and Drui watched carefully (ooc: Intimidation and Insight rolls would be useful).

“<Now you’ll answer some questions,>” Angis told the bugbear in Goblin. “<Where is the farmer and his family? What did you do to them?>”

The bugbear wriggled in his bonds, not because he was trying to escape, but because his hairy unwashed body was constantly itchy. He had scars from scratching to go with the ones he had from old battles. "<Humans were taken on a boat by Gohrag the Slaver. We were supposed to go, but this place had so much beer! We drank, slept, and missed the boat. Now I have Khurgorbaeyag's curse.>"

(This last might refer to his hangover, or his capture, but either way is possibly of interest to one trained in religion. OOC: Religion check for more!)

Drui recalled that the name Khurborbayeag belongs to a minor deity known as the Overseer (symbol of a whip). He recognised the name amidst the otherwise unintelligible babble coming from the bugbear.

After about a minute, Dandin pulls the cart into the lane and drives it up to the house. Then hops out and moves to the bodies where he begins to search for anything of value. (Ooc: Probably wouldn't bother with their armor as it would just be too heavy for the cart, let alone himself.)

Squirrels are evil!

Tommi watches the interrogation as he eats his apple. He plays the fool, but he's more level-headed than he often shows. He shares any observations he makes aloud, perhaps corroborating others' insights.

OOC: Insight [roll0]. If someone else is "help"ing, he will have advantage, so the better of that roll and [roll1].

Round 0

“<And this Gohrag the Slaver, where does he take these slaves of his? Where did he take this family?>”

Angis stepped a bit closer to be sure the bugbear knew it was in his best interests to be cooperative.

Angis stepped a bit closer to be sure the bugbear knew it was in his best interests to be cooperative.

"Ask him about this Khurborbayeag, if you get the chance" - Drui says, fastening the hammer to his belt. "Might give us insight on what they've been messing with." - he moves forward, watching Dandin closely. He remembered his own stern, confused glance at the looting hands in the first battle. Truth be told, he felt bad for his doubts. These men here were committed to help the city, as well as the villagers, for all he knew. Anything they could get their hands on might help. Now, Dandin did the work of midwives and old men, children and pacifists, collecting the spoils and filling this cart, no pride in his actions. Suddenly, he felt sympathy and admiration for the man.

Drui gets a hold of any minor piece of loot Dandin might find useful. He then throws it into the cart, his hardened face without any hint of a smile, and nods to his companion in approval.
