“Don’t--” Angis warned, but it was too late as he felt the support beams under the floor crack. “Son of an elf!” Angis exclaimed as he fell. The barrel tipped over, dousing him in accelerant as he heard the familiar goblin cry.

“Get clear!” Angis yelled, pushing Tommi toward the barn door as the place burst into flames.

As he raced for the nearest exit, Angis drew his heavy crossbow and shoved a bolt into it.

Seeing his friends trapped in a burning barn, Enseth rescinded all other priorities.

"ORB1, I need that tarp."

Enseth rushed to the barn and took cover to cast Mage Hand. The drone, flying low, grabbed the tarp with its tractor beam and flew back to his waiting master. The Shield Guardian took the tarp with his magical hand and smothered the fire with the help of ORB1. Then, they raised it in the air each holding a corner, ready to catch any incoming arrows.
If we prevent the barn from catching fire, maybe the town will not be alerted...

OOC: Enseth Movement: R15
ORB1 speed: 60ft

Angis, Enseth & ORB1 vs Goblin1

Angis picked himself up, loaded a crossbow, and headed for the barn doors. Large iron spikes held the cross-bar in place. All of the exits were nailed shut.

OOC: It's gonna take a dc16 Strength check as an action to break out of the barn, I'm afraid


Enseth used ORB1's tractor beam to lift the heavy canvas and drag it over the burnt-out cottage wall. The goblins scattered like rats. One of them took aim at the little scout and fired an arrow which went made the sound of shattering glass as it pierced ORB1's exo-shell. The broken orb fell to the ground.

OOC: The fire is 10' up the wall. You'd probably need to move the ladder to the other side and climb it to get at the fire.

Drui's concerns are mainly with his trapped friends. He climbs the stairs. As he reaches the top, he tries his best to balance his body above, seated on the empty passage. He then tries to pull the stair up, and if successful, moves it inside, leaning it against the wall so it will allow access to the entrance from inside.

"Psst! Gentlemen!" - he calls out as he improvises the way out.

OOC: If he fails to bring the stairs up but manages to find balance, he'll throw his rope down and tangle it around any support areas - or just 'cannon ball' out while holding on to one of the tips, to pull his friends out with the impulse.

Dandin had been standing with Hanar while the others did some scouting when the sound of rending wood and yelling scounded off. That eas definitely a hoblinoid voice! Peering around the corner of the wall he didn't see anything immediately so ran across the gap and to the far corner of the next building over. There he stopped to wait and see what came around the bend.

Drui & Ganalan

One of the elves - Ganalan - ran to the side of the burning barn to help Drui lift the ladder through the loft door. For a moment, it was awkwardly stuck, and then Drui dropped it down to where Tommi was picking himself up after falling.

The fire grew up the side of the barn and caught the roof. The side of the wooden barn was by no-means tight, and sparks made their way through the cracks, catching the hay on inside closest to that wall. The fire spread quickly (though fortunately had not yet made it to the smelly substance that had poured out of the barrel) and filled the barn with terrible smoke.

Goblin4 & Goblin5

To make matters worse, another goblin shot another fire-arrow into the side of the barn while one ran towards Enseth brandishing a rusty cleaver.

Averiel & Tarthagal

Averiel had taken a hidden position behind a burnt-out farmhouse and she fired at the goblin rushing toward Enseth, catching the creature in the throat. It fell to the ground gurgling. Tarthagal came up beside her and fired at the goblin with the fire-arrows, but the creature ducked behind the stone foundation of the burnt-out cottage that the goblins had been hiding in.

Dandin, Ulaqui & Maingalad

Dandin left Hanar and his cart behind a burned cottage and ran to take cover behind the next one over. Ulaqui followed him, ducking down at the corner of the farmhouse and peeking around it. "All clear this way." she whispered to the halfling and smiled.

Then Maingalad marched past them both, drawing two curved scimitars. "What are you hiding for?" he asked them, "It's just a couple of goblins!"

Goblin2

Maingalad marched around the corner as a goblin ran across the space between the farmhouse and their ambush spot. "See? I've got this one." he calmly marched toward the goblin, but it dove into the burnt-out farmhouse and disappeared into the ruin. Maingalad's smile faded into a frown as he searched in vain for the sneaky creature.

Bugbear

The Bugbear rushed out of the ambush site and headed toward Averiel and Tarthagal, hefting a very large mace.

Tommi collapsed, and bruised his hindquarters for his troubles.

Then came the inhuman screaming -- familiar to him now, though unknown to him a scant few days before -- coming form the goblinoids.

Then came the smoke. He coughed.

He stood, loaded a stone as he held his balance, and then caught sight of the bugbear. He loosed his stone, hoping it hits its target.

OOC:
Damage: 2 HP currently 15-2=13.
Smoke: Con save [roll0] vs. DC 11 or be poisoned.

Move: to within 30' of any goblinoid for whom Sneak attack would be applicable.

If none, then towards a goblin he can see with fire arrows; or, if none, then the bugbear.

Attack: [roll1]. If a hit, damage = [roll2] bludgeoning, plus (if Sneak Attack) [roll3].

Is there remaining movement? If so, he draws back, calling to the bugbear, "Hey Fuzz-face. Over here."

He then moves away from the bugbear, trying to draw him off, or cutting in front of him and then using his Bonus action for a Dash and an extra 30' of movement.

OOC: Tommi also has to get out of the Barn before he can see anyone but Drui (at the top of the ladder, hanging out in the loft-door), and Angis (trying to find a better way out on the barn floor). He can climb the ladder and sling a stone at the bugbear, sure, but none of that complicated movement stuff. There's no ladder going down to the ground outside the barn anymore. Drui used it to put a ladder down to Tommi inside the barn. I'm sorry if none of that was clear. Edit to add: Climbing the ladder takes 20 feet of moment and then there's a 10-foot drop to the ground outside.

OOC: Cool -- I thought he'd fallen to the ground. 30' to get out, fire, 30' more in whatever direction will send him into trouble.
