Hi Pssthpok mate! :)

GQuail is on the money regarding my posts and concerns.
It's too late in the game to go changing fundamentals to the system like VSC, especially with a print release pending. I mean, we're dealing with elaborate houserules no matter how you slice this pie, so content is not necessarily as important as consistency. I'm glad to hear thatVSC won't be changing, but even tacking on x# HP rules is a duct-tape solution bound to create problems later. It happens in haphazard design all the time, especially when the necessary rules for playtesting aren't in place.

The irony being that I initially had the tenfold hp multiplier for Eternals in place in the prior Templates build.

As far as the tables and numbering go, four hours is still overboard; I don't care if you're doing it in binary. I'll stretch my estimate five-fold and say 20 minutes, tops, but you're the man at the keyboard, so what you say goes. I'm just certain there's a faster way to compile things to make on-the-fly edits more feasible. I mean, if you're going to come to the forums every other week and ask how we think things should go regarding certain fundamentals of the system, you should be prepared to make those edits when called for. Use Word for Betas, IMO, and PDF for a 1.0, as GQuail suggested. It will save you time and face.

Four hours was an estimate, it would of course have depended upon what the name was changed from and to, and how many other abilities needed to be resequenced.

Anyway, good luck.

Thanks mate! :)

How many more updates to Ascension can we expect?

...because I am always on the money with such predictions...right! :p

I was thinking the text would require one more update after this weeks update.

I'm frustrated by the fixation on Time Lords, too. I am interested in this project as a source for low-epic gaming- up to level 40 or so. Up to level 80 for the antagonists for level 40 characters, and maybe hints of what is up to level 160; the forces that frame and constrain the antagonists of the PCs. But while the progression of "background" could be extended indefinitely, I think each iteration is of progressively less importance.

Me, I'd like you to nail the little things, like whether Improved Toughness increases the size of a hit die by 2, or adds +1 to each hit die. It has the same mechanical benefit as long as you are just talking Improved Toughness, but when a character gets max hit points per hit die, it makes a difference whether those hit dice are d6+7 or d20s; the character gets twice as many hit points in the latter case as in the former. I know that at one time it increased the hit die, then you changed it to the flat bonus, stating that there was no mechanical difference. But there is a difference. And the Ascension book contains confusing material about it (at least it did the last time I checked).

And getting rid of the copy-paste errors that infest the portfolios section. With avatars and aspects and such, the PCs will encounter some manifestation of the gods on a regular basis. It would be nice if there were accurate descriptions of these manifestations when they appear.

Heck, if you announced that you were dropping the section on omnific abilities to concentrate on the rest, I'd breathe a sigh of relief.

Anyway, just my two cp. I understand you are doing the best you can; and I trust that everything will eventually work out fine.

Cheiromancer is probably right. If the Time Lords are :):):):)ed up - well, frankly, you could probably scrap everything above First One without too meaningfully damaging things. We just got a little overexcited over the Time Lords.

But really, if something is so unimportant, why did you spend so much effort on it, and devote so much pagespace to it?

Which is why the Divine Abilities take up most of the space in chapter 4 and the rest taper out.

I appreciate you bringing your concerns to my attention. :)

The main point of confusion re: Imp. Toughness was basically that someone mentioned WotC had the same power in one of their books. Hence I changed it to the dice related version. But I can see how that could confuse and with immortals automatically getting d20s anyway, its possibly a tad irrelevant.

Yes but obviously the finished book won't be so unfinished.

Since when were omnific abilities 'holding me back'?

Oi! You don't get a profane bonus in these forums. :D

Anyway, who says they are messed up? They'll be fine.

Don't be ridiculous. I'd scrap the whole project before I would ditch the Time Lords. I want to know whats 'out there'.

As you should do. ;)

You mean about 5% of the book. I don't really look at that as excessive.

Hola Amigo! :D

(my polyglot epic feat in action). ;)

Exactly! I like to leave no stone unturned in my quest for the truth. The question of course is whether or not individual campaigns want/can handle the truth*.

Problems at dicefreaks...?

Hi all! :)

By the way does anyone know whats going on with dicefreaks - the website has been down for a few days...?

They've used up the month's bandwidth. Should be back up by Friday, unless Minscfan can get the server change completed sooner than that.
