At the risk of derailing another thread into arguing about definitions, that is not what being offended means.
Agreed let's not derail any further. The relevant point to the thread is that whether people love/hate WotC doesn't seem to have any predictive bearing on whether they take issue with the Kobold Press article

This again sounds like you see people's reaction to the article only in extremes.

In my view it was just a petty article. I wish they had a different way to convince me to buy the book, but of course this is the only piece of marketing that actually got through.

The weakest most inoffensive hit piece ever, and we are nearly up to 30 pages of comments lol
And that very few of them are discussing the GMG vs DMG contents shows a certain failure to resonate.

My issue wasn't that the article was offensive, but that this is the second time I'm aware of that they attacked D&D by name in their marketing. For a company with ties to WotC and engaged in a partnership with them, they are quick to toss them under the bus to prop themselves up. It strikes me as catty and desperate. Not a good look.

this thread wasn’t created to discuss the merits of the claims in the article, but to dunk on the Kobolds (‘hit piece’ and the OP make this clear)

As to the central claim of the article that the 2024 DMG is good, but focused on new DMs while the ToV DMG has more to offer for experienced DMs, I have not seen anyone disagree with that across the multiple threads that discuss both the new DMG or the one in which the ToV one is being reviewed.

Maybe there is broad agreement so no discussion is needed here? If you feel it needs one, feel free to start it…

WotC President Runner-Up.
1. We’re going to lift up companies and creators in the industry instead of tearing them down.

2. We’re going to leave opinionated reviews to the community and press. There are other places to get that. It doesn’t need to come from here.
I don't think you need to do number 2, so long as you stick to number 1.

I don't know if folks really had a problem with the Kobolds giving their opinions on the new DMG. It just feels less than genuine when it's a tear down punctuated by an advertisement.
