New to D+D. Questions...

Oh yes, I know, I checked out the cleric but a paladin has better armor and a higher hit die. A cleric would obviously be my second choice, but i think that paladin is better overall. Yes it would be almost indistinguishable but not totaly. The first time I heard of a cleric I thought that it would be the equivalent to a WoW preist and found I was wrong. Thanks, however, for the advice.
Actually, cleric has armor as good as a paladin. Better even, if you take into account the fact that the cleric has spells such as Entropic Shield and Magic Vestment, which boost their defenses even more.

And a good aligned cleric doesn't need to memorize any cure spells since he can spontaneously swap them for equivalent level memorized spells. {A great improvement over 2nd ed and allows a cleric to not be relagated to the "band aid" role anymore).

The question is do you want to play a martially oriented character (e.g., someone who is predominantely a warror) or someone who is predominantely a spell caster?

Oh there are a lot of "restrictions" on paladins when they are in a party. They do tend to be the big pain-in-the-arse types due to their "Code of Conduct". {Make sure you read up on that and the ex-paladin information before playing one - they are both under the class description.}

Well, I don't know, I'm still thinking a little bit more about hit die than armor right now. Armor proficiencies are very good with clerics, I'm sure, but I still like playing as a paladin better. Do clerics even have lay on hands? Or the special mount that a paladin has? (which I'm REALLY excited about.) Maybe I should look into it a little more, but for some reason I just really like playing as a paladin. It may be because I'm strange or like a challenge or something. Whatever it is, I dont think my mind is going to be changed for a while... I just really like paladins.

Please don't question it, can we leave it at that?

I did check out that code of conduct. It does bother me, but in any event I could atone if I have to. That's why I'm pushing everyone in my group to stay away from any evil alignment. And yes, clerics are more spell casters than warriors and I would prefer to lean a little bit more over to the warrior side. Well I guess that's about all there is to say for now, and I know the code of conduct may bother me eventually, but thats ok. I am making multiple characters anyway the paladin is only my main (and favorite at that).

And I kinda like the band-aid role.

Still trying to find that fist of Heironeous

Umm... I've seen some forums where you can't bump up a topic, I don't know if it's true here, but from what I've seen this forums pretty active, so *crossing fingers*
Bump

What are you still wanting to know that you bumped it? Not trying to be snarky, but seriously asking.

Oh - that "Fist of Hieroneous" you speak of ... do you want the Shining Blade of Hieroneous in the Com[plete Divine?

No, i mean that I don't know if bumping up a topic is allowed in this forum. And when I started this forum, someone told me that I had the symbol of Bane as my avatar, and I thought it was the fist of Hieroneous. No, I don't want the Shining Blade of Hieroneous, I'm looking for a build from Complete Warrior that someone posted earlier, but now I can't find. I'll look over the forum again...

Right. i got that much. I guess what I was asking is what do you still need to know? What questions do you still want answers to? I guess I am asking why you are bumping it. Is there anything specific we can still help you with?

[Bumpong is not particularily looked upon positively, but if done for a reason it seldom gets called out ... just for your knowledge.]

Yes, there is one last reason. I need the 2 builds from Complete Warrior. Divine Might and Power Attack. Can someone post it?

And I may need that Shining Blade of Hieroneous for a future character. Wait is that a build?

Here are some links that might prove useful to you.

The following is group of lists of all WotC feats, spells, classes, prestige classes and monsters with reference document and a very, very brief description of each.

Consolidated Lists (from WotC)
http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/arch/lists

3.5 SRD (System Reference Document) from WotC {the only “official” version}
http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=d20/article/srd35

Power Attack is a feat that is located in the PHB. You really need to spend some quality time reading that book before you start to use things from other sources.

Due to legal issues we can't reproduce an entire feat on the boards (e.g., Divine Might), unless they are located in the SRD.

The SRD (System Reference Document) is put out by WotC with everythign (well most everything) that is Open Game Content (OGC) from their rule books. OGC is informatin that can be used by anyone for any purpose and is not copyrighted.

If you are just starting out (and beginning with a 1st level character) I wouldn't recommend attempting to use Prestige Classes yet.

You have to have a character with of at least 5th level before you cna "qualify" for one and it would be real useful to try to get the "basics" down first.
