NG vs. NE: Neutral Evil is Victorious!

There are gonna be some excellent rules questions in the new terrain. :)
Gulp!

Charraw manages to stay afloat (17 Swim check), but can't manage to move Homey anywhere (41-2 vs. 48-2 Grp check).

St. George's turn in round 179.

OOC: The question is, what is keeping Charraw afloat. It doesn't matter if he was 40ft tall, what could possibly keep him 30ft above water? As they fall into the water, I don't see why they both don't fall to -Nz where N is the height of the taller grappler. But, there's no rule on grapplers falling into water, so give N is the height of the smaller grappler is fine, too. Given a choice, Homey will happily 'fail' any swim check, plummet both combatants underwater. Just like in flying, one of the two has to keep the grapple aloft, otherwise they drop.

OOC: The water is not 10 feet deep, it is 120 feet deep. Since Charraw's entire body is in water, the first thing that Charraw has to do is swim or drop to the bottom. Even then his swim speed is only 2.5 feet in a grapple, if he makes the grapple check, which he did not do. His height above the water doesn't negate either of those two facts above. If you're thinking that the water rules don't occur until Charraw is waist deep in the water, then I think gravity dictates that Charraw has to be at least waist deep.

OOC: Aha!, that's the key part - I thought it was only 10ft deep, not to the "bottom" of the arena. Okay, so Homey is just under the water and Charraw is treading/grappling along with him.

St. George decides to break down a big gun and floats over to tag Homey with a Harm, his feet trailing over the water. He instructs Charraw to return to trying to claw and bite Homey while keeping the grapple.

MEA to 100n10e0z, Std: Defensively cast Harm and tag Homey with it.

OOC: Now let's see if that gets through Homey's defenses...

Round 179: Homey cannot threaten outside the grapple, so St. George does not need to concentrate defensively. Homey gets a +8 cover bonus to AC for treading in the water.

St. George touches Homey (rolled 40). The spell takes effect (32 CL check), but Homey partially resists its effects (natural 20 Will save). Homey takes 75 points of damage and has 75 hp with 3 nonlethal.

St. George enters the Hall of Fame! :)

Round 180: Homey plunges the grapple down to 100N0E-40Z (natural 20 Grp check).

Charraw holds his breath and pounds Homey once for 19 points of damage. Homey has 56 hp with 3 nonlethal.

St. George's turn in round 180.

St. George smiles and fills the area around Charraw and Homey with holy energies, rising over the waters.

Std: Holy Smite
MEA: 100n10e25z

OOC1: Is Charraw dealing half damage underwater?

Homey will break out of the grapple for his first grapple check and, if successful, move eastward under the victory zone floor (don't have map/speed on me atm). If not successful, he will use his remaining grapple checks to crush Charraw with his tail. Or something like that.

OOC2: Before this comes up, note that it's my opinion that St. George cannot use a targeted spell on Homey due to the total cover. Is this correct?

OOC1: Footnote 1 in the DMG says grapple damage is still full (the exception to half bludgeoning damage).

OOC2: Correct, St. George can no longer cast spells at Homey while Homey is below the surface and St. George is above the surface.

Edit: Reread the rules and total cover is provided only to effects that require attack rolls and fire effects, not other 'magical effects'. However, the wind is making the water murky, limiting visibility down to -30Z. St. George can barely see Charraw and Homey grappling. 5 more feet below and they will be gone.

Round 180: St. George is blown up against the force wall to the west and takes 5 nonlethal damage. He casts holy smite and it has no effect on Homey (20 CL check). St. George is now at 100N0E0Z.

Round 181: Homey breaks out of the grapple (rolled 52-2+2 vs. 52-2 Grp check). Homey then moves to at least 100N60E-40Z, where neither opponent can see the other.

Charraw takes an AoO as Homey leaves and misses (rolled 25-2).

Charraw manages not to drop to the bottom (24 Swim check). What does he do?
