NG vs. NE: Neutral Evil is Victorious!

Oeric takes a deep breath and plunges into a diving charge, leading with a powerful bite (ending at 90n50e0z so as to avoid the column)

Oeric:[sblock]You know Stony is an aberration that can camouflage itself to look like a tunnel, can engulf large size or smaller creatures and suffocate them, and has psionic powers such as arcane eye, bull's strength, cat' grace, bear's endurance, and wall of stone.[/sblock]

Round 294: Oeric heals to 24 hp and dives.

As Oeric approaches the VZ, a wall of stone juts out from the zone's southern edge. I'll let Stony define the parameters of the wall. Oeric avoids any damage from the collision with the wall (natural 20 Ref save), but falls prone at 65N65E and takes 5 points of falling damage.

Stony starts round 295. Oeric has 19 hp.

The wall is ten feet high, and extends thirty feet from 80N50E to 80N80E. If ten feet is not high enough, it is fifteen feet high and extends twenty feet from 80N60E to 80N80E.

Stony ruminates.[sblock]Ready the same trick for when Oeric tries to enter the Victory Zone.[/sblock]Go ahead, Oeric.

OOC: Well, at least Oeric didn't die from hitting the wall. That'd be an ignomious end.

Neat situation. Here's my take.

Considering the direction and height he's coming in from, he'd be at 15 ft above the ground when he crosses the VZ border, so I'd suggest that the wall should be at a minimum of 20 ft high to stop his charge. (He's basically on a diagonal and dropping at a 45 degree angle). Stony has plenty of time and position to make this judgement, so I think he should be able to shape it as needed to accomplish the door-to-the-face effect.

The next trick is whether Oeric could pull up to get over the wall (or twist and turn) when it suddenly manifests, since he has ample movement - though this would break up his charge certainly and thus deny him an attack. I'd recommend a Reflex check, since it's a Stony's timing control vs. Oeric's manuevering control type thing. If he makes the Reflex check, his full-round charge is busted, and he stops where the wall now is with an MEA remaining to him. If he fails he slams into the wall at full speed.

Just my take.

There is an RotG article on the WotC website called "All About Movement - Part 4" with rules about flying creatures avoiding obstacles - please read it and let me know if I missed anything. Oeric definitely made the Ref save to avoid collision damage, but I don't see how he can avoid stalling and falling.

We'll say that the wall must be 20 feet high minimum and subtract 1 point of falling damage, leaving Oeric with 20 hp.

OK, the wall is twenty feet high, and is fifteen feet long, from 80N65E to 80N80E.

I guess it might not be a secret anymore what caster level Stonyworm has. :)
