D&D 5E [OOC] Uller's Out of the Abyss

We would have probably let a few people know and Ez would suggest that someone hold on to it as a sort of community chest. But that may not work for everyone.

No worries. If it becomes important, I will ask again. ;)

Also...I'm sure some of you have asked me questions or made IC posts that I never responded to. If I don't respond to something within a day or two and you see me posting, it's a good indication I missed it. Feel free to repost or otherwise draw my attention to your question. I won't be offended and I'm not purposely ignoring you.

I didn't get an answer on how many crossbow bolts I have. I grabbed two cases in the guard tower. They were supposed to have 20 each, but you said many boxes seemed to be open, missing bolts, etc., so I assume it's less than the full 40.

BTW, What did Erevan and Ezraen do with the stuff they found in Ilvara's tower. Here is a recap (with values):

- a silver chain headress set with small onyx stones (50gp)
- a drawsting bag containing two small glass vials (potions of healing)
- a small leather pouch containing a variety of coins (24gp, 30sp) and a moonstone gem (20gp)
- another larger pouch containing what can only be spell components.
- A bag that contains any valuables and coins any PCs had on them at the time of capture (I assume you redistributed at least this back to the party...but maybe not)

Also each of you swiped a silver dagger from the shrine.

By now you would have figured out that the two glass vials are potions of healing

We took it with us. I added it to my inventory in the RG thread; I do indeed assume we redistributed the valuables amongst the PCs (no point in hiding stuff at this point), but we didn't discuss what to do with the rest. Is anyone interested in some of the stuff for whatever reason? I'd say leave the potions of healing in the hands of those who have no magical healing (like clerics) so we can save their butts when they go down.

I agree with JustinCase. The healing potions would be served with another NPC that can help in time of need.

Soooo...given your last IC post...I don't suppose the sleeping poison on these would affect werecritters? I know they'll quickly heal any bolt damage, but technically the poison isn't damage...
Two part answer:

1)If they are lycanthropes then yes they would be affected by poison of any sort. Certainly your characters would have heard some legends about such creatures and their strengths and weaknesses.

2) I haven't actually given any thought to whether the drow weapons you recovered are treated with poison or not. My instinct would be to say no...each individual drow would have to treat his or her weapons periodically to keep them potent. But that would infer that you would have found some poison either in the tower or on the soldiers you killed and looted...Let me think about it a bit.

FWIW, I have no interest in using the poison to break the next 30 encounters you set up. I will be using swords unless there's a compelling reason not to (e.g. the gray ooze encounter). If you let me use the poison this fight and then say the crossbow breaks because the drow suck at taking care of their stuff or whatever, I wouldn't feel cheated. I'm mostly looking for a way out of this encounter that doesn't involve Erevan and Ezraen having to stab our two gnome friends to death with Ilvana's daggers.

Oh l'm not worried about drow poison breaking anything. It's honestly not that potent (off the top of my head it was DC 11 failure means you gain the poisoned condion. Failure by 5 or more means you go unconscious). If you choose to use that at a moment of life and death over a higher damage weapon and manage to knock a foe out to save the life of a PC...that would be awesome and exciting.

So...in the abscence of the DMG an the adventure text let's go with this...

The drow weapons were all treated but it has degraded and will degrade further overtime. (-2 DC per week). So dc stands at 9 right now.

If you are not proficient with poison and roll a natural 1 on your attack roll you potentially poison yourself...

Good luck not killing or driving off the gnomes...I'm feeling like Hannibal Lector in Silence of the Lambs....can you save them, Clarice?

Ahhh ok. Given how the hand crossbows were used on us in Velkenvelve, I was thinking of the poison as basically insta-sleep. That was more story-mode, though, so fair enough.

When you get a chance, Uller, could you please look at my inventory and give me a list of what was recovered? I've greyed out stuff that I'm not sure about; everything in black you've said was found. I ask because if you're feeling like Hannibal Lecter, I'm feeling like Matt Damon in The Martian. Thinking about how to save the gnomes, pondering all our skills and inventory like
