D&D 5E [OOC] Uller's Out of the Abyss

What's the text of the feat say?

You can declare nonlethal damage whenever you like. It only matters on the blow that knocks them below 1 hp. (Personally I think thwre should be a chance of accidentally killing the target...but this is one of those cases we'll stick with RAW)

I don't think they are gnomes anymore. They are wererats that used to be gnomes. But if you want to save them you'll have to figure out how to change them back to gnomes.

Looking around the interwebs the only source I found on LoH and lycanthropy said lycanthropy is a curse, not a disease. I want to see the actual text in the MM before I agree with that.

Feat says: "You gain a +1 bonus to AC while you are wielding a separate melee weapon in each hand."

And yeah I guess they're technically wererats now, but I can't help thinking of them as gnomes. I think it's their fear; this is clearly a new burden for them, not something they were born into. If they spent the majority of their lives as gnomes and don't want this...IMO they're still gnomes, just cursed ones.

Damn, this is going to suck. I am using all my good rolls! :p Combat is going to be brutal!

If it is a religion roll I get +2, otherwise my Intelligence check is as rolled.

I wonder if curing disease from my Lay on Hands would work? ;)

Looked it up. Lycanthropy is a curse, not a disease. So you can't use Lay one Hands to cure it. I think the lowest level magic that can deal with it is remove curse. Given the 16 religion check, Ezraen would know this.

Remove Curse eh. That actually sort of gives me hope. 3rd-level cleric spell...if we can somehow subdue them and weather this one (full moon) night, we should have 30 in-game days to level up...that's maybe doable?

Still not feeling great about our odds in this fight though, especially without Orsik.

You don't know whether or not it is the full moon. Lycanthropy might (probably) work differently in the Underdark. So I don't know that I'd bank on that.

Ahhh ok. Given how the hand crossbows were used on us in Velkenvelve, I was thinking of the poison as basically insta-sleep. That was more story-mode, though, so fair enough.

When you get a chance, Uller, could you please look at my inventory and give me a list of what was recovered?

No. I don't recall anyone getting knocked out in Velkenvelve (I remember someone having to make a save but I think they made it...the drow officer's shortsword did poison damage but no other effects. You're capture pre-Velkenvelve was handwaved...not my favorite way but trying to stick to the book...

As for gear:

Here is what I would say you recovered:

Backpack
10gp
Rapier
Dagger
Flint "dagger"
Shortsword
Hand crossbow + 25 bolts
Rations for 3 days (picked up here)
Waterskin with water for 1 day (picked up here)
Bear claw
Javelin x4
Bedroll
Mess kit
Tinderbox
10 torches
50 feet hempen rope
Drum
Staff
Hunting trap
Traveler's clothes

Your rations right now are down to 1 day and 3 days of water (you filled up right before the wonder twins ran off).

Haha...and here I thought mentioning the loot from Ilvara's tower would be a dead give away...

This was where I realized what was going on. So they heal quickly? Meh. Erevan *thinks* he saw fur on them for a second? We could all be going mad already for all I know; maybe he hallucinated it. But standing outside the cave and the DM says "so hey you guys have those silver daggers right?" Ohhhh no.

Thanks for the inventory update.
