D&D 5E (OOC) Vault of the Dracolich 5E (Full)

There is dim light in the Trog cave, right?
Is the pit trap taking up the whole tunnel area or can we move around it?
Neither of us speak Troglodyte, do we?
Is there cover in the tunnel? Doesn't look like it on the map...

Devan, Bob and Pyrus, any suggestion for tactics?
I suggest we try to help Bob out of the pit first by slowly and carefully trowing a rope down. Hopefully the Trogs don't attack immediately.
Since I am closest, I will trow the rope down.

(Is this the right place to discuss tactics or should I post it in the Dispensables thread?)

This is a better place to discus it, I think.

To answer:

The pit trap is a bit of a trench, you can run along the sides, if you're careful.

I think Troglodyte in 5e is a thick unsophisticated dialect of Draconic. (So if anyone speaks that, they could pull it off).

Most of the cover was off the map. There's a bit down on the bottom, if you hug the wall in that little alcove, but it doesn't protect you from javelins from the trogs near the pit.

Bob is pretty athletic. He should be able to climb out on his own. Assuming there's no Trog's there to push him back in, of course.

Squirrels are evil!

I should have mentioned that the Trogs do not react to Sesto saying his prayers. Or even, as in this case, casting Bless.

They may, however, get offended by someone shooting their pet snake you just fed.

I was thinking the same about the snake. And I thought that Bob can probably deal with the snake himself while we are all watching — Trogs and us! The Trogs might get so impressed by Bob that they will let us pass through without a problem... but probably not. Pyrus just need to plant the thought in the Trog's brain!

So what happened to the eldritch blast? Did it hit or miss? I didn't add the +1d4 from Sesto's bless because I presumed Devan went before the cleric's casting. But if this is a new round, I'll take advantage of it this time.

Yeah, sorry about that. My intention was to resolve it on the Trog's Turn, which hasn't happened yet. Probably should have just thrown in a "Trog get's blasted back" line. It was in my head, I swear. He's still standing, but he's not happy.

After some thought (and a few fights under my belt) I have decided how I'm going to do Initiative, OFFICIALLY. (I've already been doing it.)

And I reserve the right to change my mind! (Especially if anyone has suggestions).

1) Everyone Rolls.
2) I Average Monster Init. (or only roll once, if it's a monster group).
3) Everyone who beats the monsters gets to go, in order of post, (with a little respect for the initiative order in description)
4) The Monsters go, and I resolve the "round" (only weird in round one)
5) Everybody who was slower than the monsters gets to jump in with everyone else for round "two".
6) Repeat.

Any questions?
