We've done that in other games, it works decently well. If you wait for exact initiative order, fights can reaaaaaly drag.

I also recommend rolling initiative *before* a fight start. That way you can shave off a full day from the battle resolution time :)
 

Another thing I'm going to do: I started listing damage taken, rather than HP totals, because I'm not used to giving that information out when it comes to monsters (and I was doing it for PCs too, to be consistent).

But... I really don't like it. In fact, I find it confusing. SO... if there are no objections, I'm just going to tell you what the monsters' HP are and count down, like a regular game.
 



Same here. I prefer not to know the monster's HP.

Do it however you like, I like the suspense of not really knowing how close to death things are.

Hmmm... that's the part I wasn't so sure of. S'why I was doing damage taken. That became problematic with Temp HP. I dunno... I will think on it. I'm not gonna change it mid-fight anyway.

Which reminds me...
[MENTION=6855204]tglassy[/MENTION] - How long does your darkness last? Is it different from the spell? The spell I read has a 15' radius, not 20. How long do your Temp HP last? Until gone?

Doesn't say how long it lasts for... maybe should be the same as the spell (10 min, concentration), DM can decide.

Mastery of Light and Darkness
Psychic Focus. While focused on this discipline, natural and magical darkness within 30 feet of you has no effect on your vision.
Darkness (1–7 psi). As an action, you create an area of magical darkness, which foils darkvision. Choose a spot you can see within 60 feet of you. Magical darkness radiates from that point in a sphere with a 10-foot radius per psi point spent on this ability. The light produced by spells of 2nd level or less is suppressed in this area.

Ah the lack of editing in UA. Obviously it doesn't last forever. Probably a minute. Maaaaybe 10.
