D&D 5E (2014) Out of the Abyss IC

Shuushar blinked slowly. "There were no bones here when I last came this way. The stream is a cunning thing; swift, cold, its current strong. Do not fall in the water, if you can help it. There is a bridge, or was. Through the cavern, a bit to the south. But I mislike all these bones. Something has eaten, and eaten well. Or this place attracts death."

Solace slips back to her companions, and describes the scene. In particular, the door, which she thinks she can reach safely. She asks Shuushar if she knows what might be behind it.

"A small supply closet that lay empty, last I saw it. It has been many years." The kuo-toa shook his head in sorrow, as if this was news he was loathe to deliver.

"I take it there is no alternate route to bypass this cavern? The bones may be old, and we must press on, but with care."

OOC:
If no bypass, Kamael will put the light stone on the ground in front of Brinn, then stealthily move up to the narrowest point of the passageway.

Kamael moved forward. Dim light from the stone he placed in front of Brinn extended from his new position another ten feet into the cavern. At the edge of his field of vision, to the southeast, Kamael could make out the beginning of a bridge that cut across the stream by traversing an earthen berm to reach an elevated area to the east.

OOC: Excel won't accept a shape that hangs off the margin of the spreadsheet, so I've had to play with the shape of Kamael's light spell (I could get it to do an oval but not a perfect circle). The center yellow is bright light (20' radius), and the lighter yellow is dim light (total 40' radius between both types of illumination).

Raza Thulcandra

Raza would welcome the conversation with Kamael, but later. Now, bones. If there were fresh ones then they would dine well. Presuming, of course, that whatever scattered the bones could be dealt with. Raza wondered if she could persuade the arrogant, bald one to wander out and draw the attention of whatever it was that had fed here. Probably not, so she edged forward, following Kamael.

Raza paused, listening. She looked at the distant door and readied herself to move along the edge of the chamber towards it.

Not fond of that roll, so I'll use my inspiration to roll again: Raza stealth: 1D20+4 = [12]+4 = 16

having shared the information, Solace follows Raza and Kamael to the lip of the opening. When she sees them hesitate, she looks around again, and then proceeds carefully into the chamber. The hand crossbow is in her hand, and she wants to approach the door on the far side of the chamber, keeping her back close to the wall (so she is waling counter-clockwise, from 11 to 6).

Kago waits.

And then he doesn't. Instead, he plods through the boneyard--away from the stealthier ones--with little regard to the noise he's making. If there is something hiding in the shadows, the invitation doesn't get any more obvious.

OOC: Kago will move as far into the cavern as possible (double move?), staying as far away from Solace and the others as possible. His hope is to draw out whatever may be lurking in the shadows so that the others can maintain a stealth advantage.
