D&D 5E Out of the Abyss IC

Solace skulked 'round the edge of the cavern, whilst Kago strode to the center. Solace was a bare fifteen feet from attaining the door when the first of the bones in the cavern rumbled to false life. There, amidst the rubble and wreckage, rose eight skeletonized forms; former warriors, if their piecemeal remnants of armor and weaponry were anything to go by. The cavern birthed an additional horror. Immediately in front of Kago, a horned menace of a skeleton loomed tall and proud, a massive steel greataxe clutched in its cloven-hooved extremity. The beast towered over Kago in both girth and height.

OOC: ROLL INITIATIVE! Neither side has surprise. The skeletons are size medium. The beast in front of Kago is size large.

Round 1

As the skeletons formed and some of them drew close at hand, Brinn reacted with lightening speed, striking and hitting the closest. His fists did a total of 24 points of damage to Skeleton 1, destroying it.

Skeleton 1 and Skeleton 2 lurked forward and swung shortswords at Brinn, but both missed. Their blades were poor things, pitted, and unkept. Skeleton 7 and Skeleton 8 closed on Solace, both of them striking her for 15 points of damage between the two. Skeleton 8's blade twisted in her gut, dealing additional damage. Skeletons 3, 4, and 6 attacked Kago. Skeletons 3 and 4 missed, but Skeleton 6 landed a hit that dealt 5 points of damage. The Minotaur Skeleton bellowed and swung its overly large greataxe at Kago, but the half- full-blooded orc ducked, causing a miss.

OOC: Let me know, [MENTION=6799753]lowkey13[/MENTION], whether you want both hits on one skeleton, or one hit on each skeleton. Skeleton 8 scored a critical hit on Solace. Let me know if Solace has anything available to her that she can draw on to negate or reduce the damage, [MENTION=23484]Kobold Stew[/MENTION]. I skimmed her sheet but didn't immediately see anything. Raza Thulcandra


Raza was disappointed. These bones, animated by dark, magical energies, would provide no sustenance. And yet, Raza felt a burgeoning excitement. On icons, the Mother Night danced upon a mountain of bones. Surely, this was a test. Raza scurried forward into the dark, though with her darkvision she wasn't hindered by it. She passed two skeletons, left them for Brinn; he would be tested as well.

Raza stopped, kept one eye on the skeleton nearest her, and with a word and a gesture caused a flame to burst into being in the palm of her hand. Ahead of her, Solace didn't look well and Raza began to wonder if the Mother were telling her that the girl was fated to die. Raza hesitated but until she was certain she would do what she could. She flung the fire at one of the skeletons attacking Solace. The flame went wild and extinguished itself against the rock wall of the cavern.
