D&D 5E Out of the Abyss IC

Raza and Kago set about checking the bodies of the dead kuo-toa guards for gear and find: 3 intact nets, 1 net with a Kago-sized hole, and 7 spears. A jumble of eight small harness-like backpacks contains: 8 half-eaten trail rations, 8 half-full waterskins, a brass skeleton key, a pouch containing cockle shells of three sizes (small (white), medium (orange), and large (purple)), and 2 potions that smell of iodine in small black opaque vials.

"Are you alone?"

"Always and never", he responded, looking beyond the girl to whoever she was addressing. It wasn't the orc. How many were there? Either way, she hadn't tried to kill him yet, and didn't sound like a prisoner. Off to a good start. She was worried he had followed them.

"If I was going to track and kill you, and I would have done it while you were busy with the fish men. Or waited till you slept. Or in the narrow cavern beyond. Your kind shouldn't be down here. You glow like a star". He looked her up and down, took a sniff in her direction. "Not all the monsters down ere are as nice az me". The common language felt weird as he spoke. It had been a while since had used it.

"Looking for treasure? Lost? Runnin from somethin?".

"It's true we're not locals," Solace says laconically.

She is surprised at herself: her time in the drow cages have left her inured to the monstrous denizens, and she is willing to find a helping hand where she can.

"If you could point the way out, we'd be pleased if you showed us."

Jimjar chuckled softly at Brinn's prompt. "Right you are, Brinny Boy. And as you was first to strike, the map goes to the she-Aasimar. The deep gnome fumbled in his pocket for the scroll tube, then brandished it with a grin. "Double your trouble?" Jimjar quirked a bushy brow at Brinn in offer. It was clear enough the little dark-skinned gnome was offering to double down.

He liked the glowing girl. She didn't seem to mind that he was a goblin. Or she was good at pretending. He hated pretenders!

"Out of all of this?". He gestured grandly. "There are ways out, supposedly. Ce'rek knows of some. Who are you?"

"Hello, Ce'rek," says Solace, with a slight bow. "I'm Solace, and these are my friends." She makes a gesture with her rapier, before sliding it back in its sheath.

"Would you mind showing us one of the ways out?" She is polite, and she is tired, but she will accept a blessing from any source. She doesn't have much to choose from.

"I haven't actually BEEN up in a while, but I could try and take ya", he grinned at the woman. "Whatcha guys got in return?"

He said softly so only Solace could hear "And is the orc going to be a problem?"

"Why don't you come meet him and find out?" asks Solace, leading the way. She holds out her arm, urging him to go in front. "I am sure we can find some acceptable payment for a way out."

She urges the small but unexpectedly courteous creature forward. "Here. These are my friends," she says, bringing the light with her and recasting it. "This is Ce'rek. He says he can lead us out of the Underdark."

Kago turns to the sound of Solice's voice, and his eyes begin to bulge at what he sees before him! With a backhanded swing that would surely smash the skull of the largest of dragons, the orc's warhammer connects with the stone wall in a fit of unbridled rage. "Goblin!" he shouts. "Prepare for the ambush, there's is certain to be more where this one came from!" He picks up one of the kuo-toan spears from the ground and prepares to launch it.

OOC: Hoping someone talks some sense into this orc before he goes all bestial and turns this into a pvp arena. But Kago is an orc. And Ce'rek is a goblin (with orc as a favored enemy, no less). Had to happen. :)
