RAGE OF DEMONS Minis From WizKids

Coming soon from WiKids are the official licensed Rage of Demons miniatures. Here's a quick look at three of them - the invisible blink dog, the air mymridon, and the the drow scout. These come in the Icons of the Realms series.

Most likely, yeah.

I'm not sure what happened to pre-paint tech after Night Below, but that was pretty much the last decent set IMO. The the blades stopped having edges and instead looked like nerf swords, the paint got waxy/shiny and they scaled back on washes to bring out detail. Weirdly, the Pathfinder ones tend to look better than the D&D ones, despite both being made by wizkids.

I prefer the old D&D ones the best, more than Pathfinder. I've had a lot of pieces break off my pathfinder minis, and none feel as solid as the old DDM line.

Sorry, should have clarified the Pathfinder pre-paints by Wizkids look better than the D&D pre-paints by Wizkids. The older sets by WOTC look better than either of them. In particular, the Star Wars ones were quite good until the fall off around whatever Star Wars set was released around Night Below.

oh, well yes, i agree with that. I've also salvaged a good bit of SW minis for fantasy theme, they have some good ones sprinkled in there.

Ironically that's because they are more solid. The new lines use a harder plastic, that allows for better details but makes them break to easily. The softer plastic of the old WotC minis couldn't hold the same details, but was absurdly irrepressible. No matter how you mistreated them, they would bend, but almost never break.

I miss those too, they were so much easier to transport. Just haphazardly toss them in your bag, let them be thrown around and curshed by the heavy books of bottles also in the bag and still be sure that they come out intact. Sure the formaly straight spear and longswords look like hooks or sickles afterward, but they're still attached

However the pathfinder minis do have a much better average paint job quality than the WotC sets. The WotC sets had their highs and lows, and while the highs certainly beat the pathfinder minis, there were so many low quality paint jobs that the average of the pathfinder minis is superior

I've had MANY bases break off from the Pathfinder minis, like they weren't even glued on right. Never in any DDM line have i seen that happen.

Hey Chibi Grazzt, it looks like there are a few more figures to the right of the gnoll (some kind of tentacle), do you have pics of those too? Also, thanks for the pics!
