D&D 4E Reply if you love 4e

I love 4e! A lot!

This is what D&D is supposed to be, to me. It's given me excellent stories to tell about happenings in the campaigns; opportunities to tinker with house ruling items to something really interesting, mysterious, and magical; and created some of my (and my other players and DMs around the table) favorite characters and moments in gaming. It frees up my DMing time for more interesting plots and events thanks to how easy it is to come up with (or just refluff existing) monsters and traps and know how challenging they are likely to be to the characters.

Edit to add: My wife wanted me to mention how much she loves 4e, too. She loves that she always has something meaningful to do. She plays a lot of defenders in 4e, so she watches on enemy turns for opportunities to use her reactions and interrupts (and the divine challenge damage, for her paladin). Her leaders and strikers give her at-will abilities that are interesting to use.

Overall, 4e is one of my favorite iterations of D&D to date.

I love the powers.

I like the idea that a wizard is never without his magic. Gone are the days of a wizard having to fall back on a dagger or crossbow. A wizard should always have magic.

I love the power sources. They add a great thematic element to the game.

I'm loving the subraces and subclasses.

Themes are probably the best thing to come out of 4e. Now I can have all sorts of gladiators, nobles, etc.

Gamma World. This is the first time I've ever gotten into the setting. And it's so much fun.

Dark Sun. This is my favorite iteration of this setting.

I'm also digging the return to some classic D&D-isms with the post-Essentials rules.

Is 4e perfect? No, and no game system is. I have my nitpicks. But of all the iterations of D&D, this one more closely matches what I'd like to see than any other.

4e gives me the framework to focus on other aspects of my game. As a designer, I need to focus more on giving readers the tools to do as I do. Expect great things in 2012, folks. As you might have already noticed, the paradigm shift has already begun!
I haven't, noticed that is, what paradigm shift? ors is this something you cannot talk about.

I'm currently running a weekly game while a full time grad student. 4E lets me throw together an adventure with the least amount of prep time of any edition and still have it not come across as rushed. And what adventures they are. Fighting on rough terrain while dealing with the kobolds that are shooting at you from behind trees and at the same time trying to stop a ritual which is currently creating flaming asteroids that are falling out of the sky and trying not to get hit by said asteroids. By the rules with 3rd level characters. Yeah, I'm a fan of 4E.

I'm currently running three separate 4e campaigns, plus occasional games at the local store or conventions. 4e has gotten me into blogging about the game, which has in turn led to making new friends and going to GenCon.

Yep, I love D&D Fourth Edition.

I saw my first game of D&D at science camp in 1978 (a melange of AD&D, Arduin Grimoire, and Chivalry & Sorcerery) and by 1979 my middle school chess club became a D&D/RPG club and I have never looked back.

Of all the editions I have played and/or DMed (all of them), I love 4e. It strikes the right balance of complexity and elegant simplicity. As a DM I love that my prep time has become something manageable and not something to be dreaded. As an coordinator of organized play the steady errata has kept super unbalanced builds from overwhelming public play.

DDI is awesome. The 3rd party apps for my computer and phones are starting to get really good. Master plan is the bomb.

I pheel the luv.

I too love 4e. My favorite part is what they did with monsters. Simpler stats, minion/standard/elite/solo, include what you need for combat and let the DM decide the rest.
