Scotley's Tomb of Horrors 3.5

OOC No! You're NOT sorry! I'm offended that you would even try to present that as an accident! New Campaign Rule: If your going to unashamedly make a terrible pun, at least have the testicular fortitude to boldly admit that you meant to do it and you'd do it again if given the chance! (Because we all know that you would, and expect you to do more of the same at every opportunity! :p )

ooc Is this some sort of new type of Fort save? Can I use an action point? :) Scott DeWar: FYI: the gender is appropriate for the testicular fortitude.

Zorn smiles with mild amusement as Harrison makes a fool out of himself over Ms Balista. Then his smile turns to a frown of concern when he contemplates the offspring of such a union.

Shaking his head of such strange thoughts, Zorn concentrates on his surroundings and tries to makes sense of the wall decorations.

Grackle scrambles further into the pit as he sees the glint of something shiny in the light of his Everburning Torch, grinning madly. Once he gets near the spikes, he lays his magic torch on the dead remains, saying "Here, hold this buddy," as he places it on the corpse. Then Grackle tries to get whatever shinies the corpse has, to stuff in his pockets and his magic backpack, before retrieving his magic torch and taking a last look around the bottom of the pit, then scampering back up the walls like a monkey.

Ballista, HP48/48, AC 24/29vRanged(FF19/24vR-T15/20vR) F5 R13 W6

When Grackle looks around at the bottom of the pit he can't help notice Ballista staring strait into his eyes with an oh really look on her face. "And what if any of the stuff down here was cursed my little would be tomb raider? You might have already been turned into a fat little pig before could warn you." She slides her giant bow magically into her quiver, then reaches back into it and pulls out an immpossibly long thin silver blade which lets her reach all the way to the bottom of the pit without having to risk skittering around the spikes. She slowly moves the debris around to reveal anything that looks resistant to the passage of time, indicating some magical origins. If she finds anything of note she'll pick it up with the tip of her katana or the hooked end of her bow if need be. She also looks for any obscured or hidden alcoves where loose trinkets may have been deposited during a fall.

OOC-if theres room to stand on the bottom and move around the spikes she'll do that after checking the floor with her blade to make sure its solid. In order to save spider climb time. She makes sure the gnome isn't trying to horde anything while looking around ;p greedy little hobbitses!

Ballista and Grackle make their way down into the 30' deep pit carefully avoiding the spikes at the bottom. There are several bones and a layer of dust at the bottom. A careful search reveals a pair of shiny lenses set in leather goggles, a dozen silver pieces and a potion bottle. Treasures in hand pit explores are soon back with the rest of the group.

Grackle Granitetop

Grackle stuffs the shinies away and then looks at Ballista quizzically. "Huh? Whazzat? Shinies are shinies. They good!" He fishes out one of the plundered silver pieces and rubs it against his cheek fondly while smiling. The coin comes away covered in dirt and mud. "Ev'ry'un loves shinies. Can't be bad." Then he puts the coin away and scampers back up to the top, his magic cloak making it a breeze to stick to the pit-wall along the way.

Up top, he scurries away towards the entrance of the colorful room, wary for a moment that Jillian might be itching to spring another trap. Once he's confident that there's nothing about to fall on him, the gnome takes out his newly-acquired shinies to admire them.

After some....very foreboding...looks from the others, Grackle mutters "Eheh...mebbe you want share shinies? Okies, jes' don't hurt Grackle." He cautiously approaches the group again and holds out the silver pieces, handing them over to whoever tries to take them, though not without one last forlorn look at the departing shinies. "So long, shinies..." he mutters quietly.

Then he hands over the bottle, after first looking closely at it, opening it up, taking a bif sniff of whatever fumes or scents rise from the bottle, and dripping a bit onto the tip of his tongue, before spitting it out, resealing the bottle, and handing it over. He just shrugs when people look at him funny for doing that. He doesn't know what it is, he just thought it might strike him in a flash of inspiration. "Kay thas'sall!" he says.

Then he scuttles over to the entrance of the colorful room again, takes out the wierd, connected lenses, dusts them off, and tries them on, looking around to see if anything's different, or shinier with them on. He sighs and stays put, waiting for the others to do whatever it is they're doing. He forgot. Grackle decides to keep the goggles on for now, thinking he must look more sophistimicated like this.

Spellcraft to identify potion (1d20+10=12)

(ooc: It's a sham that gnomes no longer have a bonus to identify potions, since it changd to Spellcraft in 3.5. Not that it would've helped that particularly bad roll.) :P

Garagos, AC 29 (T19, FF27), HP 107/107, DR 3/-, F +11,R+6,W+10

"Yeah, just have fun without god ol' Garagos. And this so called pit is'nt deep enough to elude the famous darkvision of dwarvenkind. But just proceed, You seem better at hanging on a rope, than me."

The silver pieces are ordinary enough, and hold images of long dead rulers suggesting that they may have been at the bottom of the pit for hundreds of years. The potion tastes of mint and anise, but otherwise Grackle can't tell what it might do. The lenses of this item are made of silvered crystal. When placed over the eyes, it makes things a little dim. Grackle suspects the wearer can operate without penalty in preternaturally bright light, such as might result from a flare, sunbeam, or sunburst spell. (Goggles of Day)

OOC: Somebody else want to try the potion? Break the wall now or try the misty arch or the green face? Something completely different?

Garagos, AC 29 (T19, FF27), HP 107/107, DR 3/-, F +11,R+6,W+10

"Can I get those goggles? I think I will look bad a$$ with it!" Garagos says cheerfully, already looking for a wall to bash.

Jillian Tealeaf, Rogue9, AC25,FF19,T17, HP37/37, F+4,R+13,W+5

Once she has opened the trap door she nods to Ballista, bows and then steps back out of the way. Then she will go check out the archway and the devil's head. She will not get very close but she will look at them from all angles trying to see if she can discern anything unusual from them.

Just reposting my action from above.

Ballista, HP48/48, AC 24/29vRanged(FF19/24vR-T15/20vR) F5 R13 W6

Seeing the trapspringer approaching the open mouth, Ballista thinks better of it and quickly moves back into the pit for a few moments, returning with a leg bone from the body in the pit. "Jillsie, try testing that black hole with this instead of any gear or your hand." She hands the rogue the femur and then retreats back to the entrance and covers the rogue with her bow from there.
