So are we to read from this that Trelane is OFFICIALLY a Q? I know that's always been the fan theory, but with John DeLancie voicing his dad, I think that settles it?
What Q is a "do as I say, not as I do" kind of dad. Who would have thought?Except... stopping someone from mucking around with humans is out of character for the Q we know.
There's that, plus humans had gotten even more uppity, in the TNG days, so they had to be cut down a peg. What Q is a "do as I say, not as I do" kind of dad. Who would have thought?
Ever since TNG there has been speculation that Trelaine might have been a Q, so they've effectively now made that canon. The IMDB listings explicitly name the characters Trelaine and Q and, as that information comes from the studio, that's pretty much the final word on it I would say.I thought Rhys Darby was perfect casting for Trelaine. I also picked up the voice of Q there and wondered about that. Perhaps he is a Q or perhaps something else and they thought they'd throw in John DeLancie as the voice of the dad to mess with Trek fans.

Thank you for the correction. The only information that I am personally aware of, via friends in production companies, was that the information on their work was submitted via their IMDB Pro accounts.IMDB data is based on user submissions. It’s crowdsourced like Wikipedia.
I think, since "Q" only appeared as that ball of light, they've kept speculation open as to the nature of Trelaine.Ever since TNG there has been speculation that Trelaine might have been a Q, so they've effectively now made that canon.
