Star Wars Iconic Characters: Interlude...

Seeing Valara come out with a blaster at her side, Kaz is suddenly reminded of what he's holding. He motions toward her with the dissected pistol he holds by the barrel.

"Oh hey, that reminds me, I've been workin' on some better pistols too. I've got some long-term plans of buildin' a set of power armor but that's way off. Anyway, if any of you folks want one -Kelko, Valara, Rorworr? I wouldn't think y'all Jedi use blasters like the rest of us...er..no offense or anything. Anyway, just say the word.

"By the way, how long we plan on stayin' here?"

"I would much rather have a lightsaber then a blaster, do you know how to build me one?" she asks the tech, giving the horny one her full attention.

"May I try next?" she asks eagerly

"I don't see why not," Sia-Lan spoke with a warm smile. Snapping her fingers at the remote, she called it over to Valara. "I think that Set has had more than enough stuns for now anyway...he's starting to look grumpier than usual."

She gave Set a wink before eying the other woman carefully. "But you'll have to take it a bit slow at first. Lightsabers aren't toys to be trifled with nor is the skill to wield them effectively and safely so easily gained." Gesturing from Set to Valara, Sia-Lan spoke simply. "Why don't you show her your technique, Set? Especially since Valara admires it so."

The sounds of hammering cease, and Rorworr walks down the gangplank out of the ship, wiping his hands on an oily rag. He takes a seat on a nearby cargo container, and watches the Jedi train.

Rorworr winces at this news.

"You know it's going to blame me for that, don't you. It's never liked me since I got the ship shot."

"I'm happy with my bowcaster, but thanks for the offer." The Wookie looks over the modifications with interest, happy to be surrounded by technology.

Getting back to his feet, he walks over to the ship and calls under to Kelko.

"How you doing under there, buddy? Need a hand?"

Already understanding of the wookie's language, Kaz shrugs and turns back to Valera before the translator droid even begins to speak,

"Last time I tried to swing a lightsaber, (it was one of those kinda like you young Jedi use, y'know that isn't really a lightsaber) but anyway I tried to swing it at this droid and nearly cut my own foot off. That's when I decided I wasn't one with the Force.

"But I can build a blaster from scratch parts. Maybe even a bowcaster if you gave me long enough, Rorworr."

She wants to research current Tapani fashion - for Valara, she's looking for something simple, elegant, and martial, which wouldn't restrict Valara's freedom of movement unduly, and won't clash with Zheev. If she can find something that might work, she'll poke around for ideas for the rest of the crew, then see if she can find anything for herself. If she finds anything she really likes, she'll have it delivered to Aunt Agatha's. (Credit cards - in spaaaace!!!!!)

"Standard" fashion in Tapani, much like the rest of the Galaxy, is well... pretty standard.

"High" fashion of the elite, is another matter entirely. Tapani sector, being on the coreward side of the Colonies REgion, is forever a half-season behind the Core, and a season and a half ahead of the Rim, fashion-wise.

Currently, women of the aristocracy wear low necklines, tight bodices and billowing skirts on their gowns... trimmed with plenty of lace and jewelry. Hair styles tend to intricate and, on occasion, large. Though hats, bonnets or shawls are worn as often as not. "Tastefully revealing and ornate" would be a good rule of thumb.

Men tend toward silk shirts paired with long vests, frock coats, shorts breeches and tall boots (all done up with same brocaded flair as the women)... and dueling swords. A man in Tapani sector cannot be respected without a good vibro-saber or vibro-rapier hanging from his side. Half-capes, sashes and pelises are not uncommon.

Each noble house has its own taste in military uniforms. Though, in general, they all tend to start out as sober double-breasted affairs. House Guards sport elegantly functional battle armor. Meanwhile officers are dolled up in sashes, epaulettes, piping, and knotted lace... Not to mention the ubquitous sword of a gentleman.

Snip lots of good fashion stuff

Interesting. Clearly, I'm going to need a full courtly wardrobe. The resident Jedi should be able to get by during minor social fuctions with their Jedi robes, while some sort of military uniform should work for Kel, Rory, and Kaz. (And Vor'en, when he appears. Valara shoudl fit into one category or the other, and I'm willing to bet that Deel's already dressed to kill.

Arani sighs. Enough fun, time to get back to work. She'll try and contact Aunt Agatha in order to formally convey her gratitude and acceptance of her offer of sanctuary, and to try and feret out as much information about the crew's future duties as possible.

Oasis Station

"Then I should start without the ahh... what is that thing?" Valara asked Sia pointing at the floating droid. She glanced from one of the Jedi to the next her gaze coming to rest on Set. "You will teach me the use of a Lightsaber, yes?" She asked him, openly admiring his muscular form. She moved to stand beside him to wait for his response.

"Very well." Set's voice automatically assumes the tone of Master Yoda. "These lightsabers were given to us by our masters when we became their apprentices. They have a low, non-lethal setting for sparring practice. When a Jedi's training is more advanced it is tradition for him to construct his own lightsaber. Here take it." Set hands Valara his lighsaber.

Gesturing at the remote Set drones on. "The beginning proper stance is like so, balanced on the balls of your feet, feet apart and knees slightly bent, the lightsaber is held just so...."

While Set teaches Valara what he knows, Sia-Lan decides to visit other others within the ship. Before she leaves though, she gives Sen Udo-Mal a smile. "Maybe you should interject some wisdom into the impromptu training so Valara will remember which...lightsaber it is that she's training for." With a rather mischievous wink to Sen, the young padawan hopped into the ship.

"Hey Kaz, Kelko, Rory!" she called out cheerfully, giving a generous wave of her hand. Dark auburn locks gleamed in the intermittent lighting. "Anything a techno-incompetant can assist you with?"
