D&D 5E That’s a lot of charcoal! Find Familiar problem

Thank for the replies guys! There’s a couple of people wondering why my DM went with the ruling he did and maybe there are people out there brave enough to question the Dungeon Master, I am not one of them but I am willing to surmise that it may have been a combination of:

A. He is happy that he has had his joke at my expense and is willing now to move on.
B. He doesn’t want to listen to me checking every where we go for charcoal, asking about the charcoal market and organising charcoal deliveries for the next 7+ levels.

Either way I think he has made a wise and just decision.

I've made rulings with similar results, which I later regretted. Sometimes we GMs can be our own worst enemies. :o
 

I think you got off easy. The DM could have required the brass brazier. I have a few of these in my house and they are awkward.
