"Sure", came Boog's swift reply. He made ready as did the others, while Kirin tended to the old lady.Manzanita said:"Did anyone tell her about my brother? She knew about boogy's mind stuff? It's about us, and we...we...let's talk about it on the way to the miller's house."
Boog pondered the riddle for a bit. "The number that bothers me is three", he concluded. "We are four, and the kidnapped victims are two, unless your brother shares their fate. I also don't know what this business about a knight is...would any of you qualify as a knight? I wouldn't. And the three who are trapped might be the same three who would loot and burn, or they might be a different trio. And which girl must rush to aid? Kirin, or Juliana?" He paused for a moment. "Those aren't good clues, but it's more than we had before."Manzanita said:What does it all mean? Three are trapped. Are these the same three who have hearts of black? Yet, we are supposed to rescue the ones who are trapped. The ones trapped are the ones who are they key to the three villians' success?
Boog decided to humor the man. True, the old woman's prophecy could be interpreted several ways, but what was that one of the Makers had said? "The simplest answer is the best." Or was it, "Don't multiply your answers? Or "Entities are not to be multiplied..."? Well, it was something like that. "Well, seeing as how Kirin is staying behind", he answered, "I suppose Juliana will have to do. Three it is."Manzanita said:"Listen Boogy. The 'girl' who 'must rush' is Red here."
Manzanita said:"...let's talk about it on the way to the miller's house."
"Will have to do?" Juliana says, raising an eyebrow.El Jefe said:"Well, seeing as how Kirin is staying behind", he answered, "I suppose Juliana will have to do. Three it is."
