"Jayla. Brin's niece." His eyes turn to Erik. "And you, the holy man, you must be Eric's father, yes? Your son was one of the bravest men I have ever served with. I truly miss him, you must be proud." .

Erik's only response was a curt nod and he remained silent as the converstion continued.

"If it is as you say. Evil has risen again. In Saint Cuthbert's name and in memory of my son I shall stop it." He looks at Nairb directly "I may not be youngblooded but let any who do not follow this old man into battle againt the Evil to feel the full weight of shame for as long as he draws each cowardly breath!"

Olster didn't like taking this journey down memory lane, his feelings clearly displayed upon his weathered visage. "Volom was a wonderful wizard. I didn't have the pleasure of fighting with him until his final breaths, as I was injured in one of the first raids and when we came back here to Hommlet I took refuge for a few days while the others ventured back inside. I'm not certain on what lead him to his final resting place, son, but I can guarantee you that he didn't go down without a fight. One of the bravest spell-slinging sonsabitches I've ever met." His words were crude, but that was exactly how he felt. What Olster didn't share was that when he returned to the temple for the final time, it was out of guilt and bitterness. Maybe he wasn't exactly the most courageous men. "I cannot force you lads.. and lady, " he smiles briefly to Jayla whom has remained quite silent.."to return and take down this damned temple once more. I only hoped you would do it out of the respect of your kin, and because this city needs you. We lack the .. brave souls.. to go forth and investigate ourselves. Hell. No one will even take the time to poke around that moat house I've heard rumors of. Darned unwelcomed clerics.. " He rambles off into mutterings and mumblings, Vesta frowning as he does. "I'm going to wait downstairs father, if you need me.." She trails off as she's quite certain he can fill in that blank. Excusing herself from the room, she takes her leave. Sudden realization flashes upon his face. "Not to mention! We're trying to keep this under wraps. Rufus and Burne don't wish to excite the entire village, don't need a riot upon our hands. If people truly knew what we suspected, they would be packing up and heading out." Erik's sudden outburst causes Olster to nearly jump from his skin, and his face contorts into a genuine smile. "Ah. That's the spirit!"

( Olster is extremely genuine and telling the truth, as far as he knows, about everything. He honestly thinks that Evil has returned to the Temple, and that the moat house too isn't safe for villagers. For those of you that's family returned home to share stories, you've heard of said moat house and how it played a big part in the first destroying of the temple. )

Nairb smiles in spite of himself as Olster talks. "I'd be happy to kick some ass for you. A reward would be nice. Or Vesta." When Nairb says this he turns to Yun and says "Just joking." as sarcastically as he can. Turning back to Olster "You were saying something about a moathouse, where is it, and what the hell is wrong with the place."

Yun narrows his eyes at Nairb, but decides against saying anything about it. Instead he responds to Olster; "This does sound like a challenge. I will at least see if it indeed is." He had also planned to ask for more details, but as Nairb had beaten him to it, he fell silent and waited for the answer.

Erik leaned over to Yun and whispered in his ear.

[sblock=Yun or a Listen DC 15]"If ye are going to wear your heart on your shoulder boy. It is going to make a very tempting target."[/sblock]

Yun looks at Erik, his expression genuinely confused. He speaks his answer, not quite in a whisper, but quietly enough that it would be hard to make out for someone who was not paying attention. "Er, the last time I did check my heart was worn within my chest. You need not worry about others making me a target though, I am more than capable of defending myself. I would welcome the challenge."

Erik lifted his head up and cocked it quizzically. He arched one bushy eyebrow. "Do they not teach ye children anything these days?" He sighed and for a moment looked every bit a tired old man. "No I suppose not. It 'twas an idiom. Not to be taken literally but figuratively." he said with a bit more patience in his tone then usual. The priest then took a look around and noticed the whole subject was causing more attention then he had meant to. He placed one ham-hand on the monk's shoulder. "Think on it lad. I am sure ye will figure it out."

Yun does not quite understand, but decides to do as suggested and think on it. Unfortunately that only causes him to wonder why anyone would speak in such a manner unless they intended to be misunderstood. Thinking back, he realizes that others have used similar phrases when speaking to him before, though when he asked about them they were called them figures of speech instead. He is still unsure of what it was that the old man had been trying to tell him. He shrugs, while such things were bothersome, he could not think of any way to avoid them that was not even more bothersome.
