Thirst for power (Finished) (Knight Otu judging)

When they awake in the morning, Banion shares his plans with the others.

"I'm going to stay in hiding. If they move against us, better that they underestimate our numbers... and it may be usefull to have a face they won't recognize at some point. No way to tell if that's still the case, of course, but we can only work with what we've got. If all goes well, I'll be following you and nearby at all times."

"Let's see, I ought to have a cover story in case i'm caught...." Banion smiles. "If I must, I'll claim that a rich halfling woman named Gwyn Ap'Hywell has hired me to make sure Beamer doesn't cheat on her during his travels, so I'm keeping an eye on the scoundrel."

After any further discussion, Banion will slip away, trying to remain unseen.

OOC: Resting extra is fine with me. I don't think anyone should go off on their own, so keeping us all together is fine by me. Xaov, I hope you will be able to game with us again sometime, and everything works out well for you.

IC: "That sounds like a fine idea. Shadow us while we go check out the barracks and then visit this Artea."

ooc: Just to clarify, you´re going to walk up to the guards at the gate, and Banion is going to do the same after Beamer and Draig pass. Am I right?

Banion will let the others get completely through the checkpoint before aproaching. If he can manage to be close enough to hear any conversation should they be challenged without being conspicuous, he will... if there's some legitimate business requirement to get to the other side, he hopes he'll pick up a clue as to how the others pass, so as not to get seperated.

If possible, Beamer will try to walk passed without speaking to the guards. If it seems that everyone moving through must be discuss then he will try to get close enough to overhear someone in front of him so he has an idea what to say.

OOC: Oh, and did they pass a tavern near the barracks?

ooc: You don´t see a tavern near.

Just before you a man leading by the reins a donkey loaded with wood -most probably firewood, for the look of it- passes, with the guard just nodding at him. But he [the guard] makes a lethargic gestute commanding you to stop. "What do you want?", says, as he leans on the halberd.

"Who, me? I'm just checking out the town. I am planning to open a second store outside of Orussus and so am looking at some of the surrounding communities. This is the guards barracks, I understand? Security is very important to my investment."

Draig nods, assuming the role of the business associate. "Aye, and we want to be sure we're paying you your due 'taxes', we want no trouble with the guard."

The guard looks at Beamer the same way he would if the halfing suddendly turned into a dancing blue monkey, but Draig´s words seem to clarify the situation. "Aw. Uh, yeah." finally says, nodding slowly "I see you want to speak with the captain. But I believe he´s not now right here, and I have no idea of when he´s going to show up."
