Two Weapon Wackiness.

First Post
DM has created a body guard, a 6th level fighter.

Feats: Exotic Weapon (Dire Flail), Weapon Focus (Dire Flail), Weapon Spec (DF), Two weapon fighting, Abi (The rest don't effect this).

I can hear you groaning now. 'Dire Flail!? Those are dumb!' Well, I altered the way it looks; instead of two spiked balls on chains, it's more like a longer haft, and at the ends, those flail heads are attached to hoops. Think of it like a three section staff, with a long middle, and short ends.

Now, his BAB is +6/+1. Str is +4. So that's +10/+5. Add in weapon focus, and a masterwork dire flail, that's +12/+7.

With this in mind, now we add in the two weapon fighting. WIth Abi and Two weapon, it subtracts a -2 from the attacks. Here's my Q; do you add a second attack from the off hand Twice, if they have two attacks, or just once? Thus if adding two, the attack would be +10/+10/+5/+5. Or, is it like flurry, and just adds One attack, at the highest BAB, -2?

Two-Weapon Fighting allows one extra attack with the off-hand weapon at the character's highest BAB.

Imporved Two-Weapon Fighting allows a second extra off-hand attack at the character's highest BAB -5.

Cool, thanks.

This guy looked... Dangerous, then. ;) Still, three attacks that do 1d8+6, not to mention the cleric standing behind him who's going to either GMW him or Bullstrenght... That's just *scary*. :)

Of course, it's two attacks that do 1d8+4, and one attack that does 1d8+2.

Even though you're holding the dire flail with two hands, if you're using it as a double-weapon, the primary head gets Str bonus to damage, and the secondary head gets half that.

He could make two attacks at 1d8+6 by ignoring the secondary head.

double-ended weapons are very powerful when you pile on the feats. They're also very versatile, in that you can use them as two-handed weapons, too, and get the higher strength bonus to damage.

If you have Excel, go to www.geocities.com/babcalc/index.html and you can download my sheet that will help you to determine if all that stuff is really worth it.

The guy you posted with a +1 dire flail will average 15.75 damage vs AC 20 when he is doing a full attack action with both ends.

With the same weapon, just attacking with one end and using it 2 handed vs AC 20 will get him 16.3 damage per round.

The lower the AC though, the better it is for the guy to use both ends.

PS Right now masterwork isn't working. I need a few minutes to get it working.

Masterwork, not Magic.

But, with the cleric standing behind him casting Bull Strenght, or GMW on him, things are gunna get ugly. Bull Strenght, or GMW to him, and the other to the 6th level Psywarrior with Deep Impact.

This is going to be messy.
