War characters give me a headache

I'm on the other side. I rather see fitting, flavourful words with obscure origins than seeing strange bash-up words. But that's more a matter of taste - I just dislike these bashkit words... they have some goofy quality to me.

But if we're going all WAR... I suppose we should rename ALL classes:

Barbarian - Warrager
Bard - Warsinger
Cleric - Warpriest
Druid - Waranimist
Fighter - Warmaster
Monk - Wardancer
Paladin - Warknight
Ranger - Warstalker
Rogue - Warstriker
Sorcerer - Warweaver
Wizard - Warmage

Then the Warlock and the Warlord will feel right at home!

And then we can exchange War- with other cool prefixes to get a customizable feel! You want a superhero-campaign? Use Power-. You want a more friendly setting? Use Peace-. You want a stone age setting? Use Stone-. The possibilities are INFINITE!

Cheers, LT.

I could get behind this.

Dungeons & Dragons has an overabundence of 'w' words in general. This is exceedingly stupid, as 'w' is inarguably the stupidest letter in the history of ever.

Well, that might only apply to classes. I think the D-Section is the largest in the Monster Manual.

WotC's misuse of words.

Which stems from TSR's misuse of words, like barbarian. If it's okay to represent a prejudiced cultural term as barbarian as a class for non-civilized characters (and pigeonholing them into being angry brutes), then what's the problem with them using warlord for something at least related to it's meaning?

Amusingly, my players refer to our battle mat as the DiploMat -- and our miniatures as "peace figurines." Wishful thinking, I think.

My actual middle name is 'Warfield.' I wonder if that makes me prejudiced?

You'd be one step closer to Battle Cat.

Related? Err, how?

That's the problem people are having with the term warlord. It doesn't mean a tactical leader of a squad. It means a tyrant. At best, it means a strategic leader of an entire warlike region or nation. That's related how?

It's like having a King class.

Just because TSR screwed up doesn't mean that WotC should.
