Warlock-Edritch Blast= Raw Arcane Power

I was in a "new warlock invocation" thread, actually a very good one involving fiend summoning. You can find it here.

It got me thinking. What kind of changes could be given to the warlock, if we took away the eldritch blast and all those heavily flavored fiend traits? If we were to make the warlock, an at will magician?

I don't ahve my books right now, but how does that sound? Is it worth thinking about?

You'd need some attack-type invocations, so that they'd have something to do in combat, but I think it could work - the question is: how many extra invocations is giving up EB worth? I'd say at least one of each grade, possibly more.

Of the other abilities, some work fine for a magician (Detect Magic, Decieve Item, and Imbue Item). The energy resistance and DR could probably be replaced with SR, and the fast healing could be replaced by a spellfire-like "absorb spells for healing" ability (usable on spells that the SR successfully blocks).
