What Game Mechanics Have You "Borrowed" From 2E?

Have you taken a look at the Priest of the Celestial Spheres? It's essentially a product that takes the concepts behind the old specialty priests, and builds a 3E class around them. You can find it here: http://www.rpgnow.com/product_info.php?manufacturers_id=352&products_id=4882&

You need a clapper for that! Pimp on! *clap clap* Pimp off! *clap clap clap* ;)

(I decided to buy a copy, btw. Just now looking it over.)

Anyhoo...

I'm not sure what rules I implement in my 3e games come specifically from 2e and what come from house rules over the year. I do the -4 to hit on called shots as well. Crits in my game happen only on a natural 20, and fumbles on a natural 1. None of that critical threat jazz for me!

See, my problem is that I like the basics of third edition, but I'm not a huge fan of 3e combat. I run combat like I did in 2e for the most part. So that's what I mainly bring from 2e.

That could be dangerous. Sometimes, the sound of my cats running around the apartment sounds like applause. Can you imagine, I'm talking to the pizza guy, my cat runs past, and I suddenly start trying to sell him a PDF about spells or monsters? :D

Hope you like it, though. :)

I bumped craft wonderous item back to a 9th level requirement, with the same requirement for rings. There has been a corresponding reduction of wonderous items found as treasure, and an increase it unique items instead of flat stat/save boosting items.

Silence 15' radius
Darkness 15' radius

Stoneskin, no cost, protects from hits not damage, and lasts until discharged.
(not really, this was the most abused spell in my campaigns, until I HR'd)

We have a system that imposes critical injuries on characters who are reduced in hp to a near death level. The effects are similar to the 2nd edition combat and tactics book-critical hits. They range from injured, broken bones, crushed, shattered, or destroyed and severed. To help pcs stave off these effects we use the con bonus modifer HR to the -10 rule.

yay for links! linkity linky links
