What supplement would you really like to see Wizards produce?

I want to see race books (Elves, Dwarves, etc). It is simply inconceivable to me that they haven't released supplements for the demihuman races for 3rd edition yet. It seems to me that Wizards of the Coast is far more interested in miniatures and dungeon crawling than character concepts and roleplaying. The only option we really have is to hunt down 2nd edition material or turn to third party materials (like the horrible game balance disasters put out by Mongoose Publishing). A shame, really.

Another shameless plug... :)

May 2004:
Blood and Shadows: the Dark Elves of Tellene
Rumor and legend made the drow infamous – now learn the truth. This book contains detailed information on the dark elves of Tellene, including history, culture, religion, social structure, subraces, and more! Whether you want to fight them or play them, this sourcebook is an invaluable resource on all things drow, and usable by players and Dungeon Masters in any D&D campaign setting.
K&C1028 (96-112 pages, b&w, softcover) $19.99

July 2004:
Friend and Foe: the Gnomes and Kobolds of Tellene
Gnomes and kobolds have hated each other for ages – now learn why. Like the orc, hobgoblin, and dark elf books before it, this supplement contains detailed information on the kobolds and gnomes of Tellene, including history, culture, religion, social structure, subraces, and more! This book is an invaluable resource on all things gnome and kobold, and usable by players and Dungeon Masters in any D&D campaign setting. Remember, being small doesn't mean you can't think big.
K&C1029 (160 pages, b&w, softcover) $23.99

I really hope that WotC dosen't make a 3e version of The Complete Book of Elves.

I'd love to see a series of books that tackle groups of the planes in greater detail such as the Inner, Lower, Higher, Transitive or something along those lines. Granted, I was a big Planescape fan back in the day.
Read over at www.montecook.com for information on Beyond Countless Doorways. Basically a Planescape Reunion book with 4 of the writers for Planescape working on the project and (IIRC) a foreword by Zeb Cook. New cosmology and such and naturally it will fit perfectly in with AU but is also very simple to graft to anything else.

The Planes Monte-style

I know I've always wanted to see (for purely selfish reasons) The Monster Hunters Association Compilation Book, with all of the Monster Hunter "Ecology" articles updated to 3.5 rules (including the three unpublished ones I wrote and submitted that were mass-rejected when they changed the format for "Ecology" articles). It would also include the unwritten (but plotted out) "Ecology of the Umpleby," another goofy D&D monster that fits the MHA mold so well, plus as many others as would fit to make a decent-sized book. And, as long as I'm dreaming, artwork throughout by Tony DiTerlizzi and/or Mike May.

For those of you familiar with DC/Vertigo's "Sandman" comic book series, I have no doubt that that book is sitting on a shelf somewhere in Dream's library. :)

Good question. As for my 2¢:

  • As mentioned before, a "Mature" series books concerning Law, Chaos, &/or Neutrality (seems that Law & Chaos, & their effects on good & evil, are present in BoVd & BoED; I'd think that a Neutrality book may cover the rest).
  • Definely a book for skill-focused characters (or skill & feat focus)--perhaps called Complete Expert (heck, it seems that these books are sorta following the names of the generic classes used in UA).
  • Unless covered in the new release, perhaps a similar book for psychics--Complete Psychic.
  • Other culturally-themed campaign books (like w/ Oriental Adventures); possibly a Middle Eastern/African themed setting, a Native American/Mesoamerican one, an Aboriginal/Pacific Islander one, a pre-Dark Age/Medieval setting for fantasy (spans from the birth of history to just after the fall of Rome), etc.
  • A sort of humanocentric race book, in the vein of Races fo Stone: coudl cover humans, halflings, half-elves & half-orcs (focus on their human side, perhaps), gith (since they're former humans), etc.
  • Maybe one-book wonder campaign settings, ala Ghostwalk; however, they should incorporate new ideas & rules presented in other books. For example, have one such 1-book wonder use generic classes instead of the PHB core classes; have another use class variants from UA, & possibly some new core classes from the Complete books, etc.
  • A non-D&D book request: For the d20 Modern line, at least as a 1-book wonder campaign setting: G.I. Joe d20. Heck, the toy line's back up, there's a new comic series, a movie in the (vestigal) works, & it could even tie in with the new toy line (somehow).

You did notice that WOTC is also releasing a GI JOE card game this year right? At least I saw mention of base set and that's how they refer to sets like Mirrodin in Magic.

Nope--didn't notice that at all... Cool. Not much into card games, though. Besides, I'd still like to see this for a d20 Modern supplement/campaign setting. Could use (good) art from the Devil's Due & Marvel runs. Plus, seems like a good setting for this (the FEAR Critical Threats in April's Dungeon made me think of this). Why:

  • It's an example of a heroic yet "realistic" setting (very high tech in some instances, but nary a trace of magic or fantasy-based stuff around [barring stuff from the cartoon, of course]).
  • d20 Weapons Locker seems to be very complementary for it.
  • Multiple organizations for use (G.I. Joe, Red Oktober [before its demise/absorbtion into G.I. Joe], Cobra, the "legit" Arbco Corporation, Cobra Island and/or the town of Springfield, Zartan's Drednoks, Destro's MARS organization, the secretive group of top brass known as the Jugglers, the former Arishikage Red Ninja clan, & the newer Serpentor-based Coil).
  • As I eluded to before: ninjae, ninjae, ninjae!
  • Campaign options can up the sci-fi/sci-fantasy if desired (Brainwave scanner; Battle Android Troopers; Cloning; subdermal holographic imagers; super-hi-tech helmets/masks; genetically-augmented soldiers; satellite-controlled nanotechnology. Plus some other options--Battle Force 2000 anyone? How `bout Cobra-La? Neon-colored uniforms?)
  • Different canons/different campaign seeds: The Marvel run/Devil's Due run comic continuity. The Devil's Due "G.I.Joe/Cobra Reborn" new comic continuity. The Sunbow cartoon continuity (more sci-fi/sci-fantasy). Possibly even a movie-based continuity. Or, of course, create your own continuity instead (like a more fantasy-themed version ala Urban Arcana; a sort of X-Files-ish concept with the Cobra-La theme; a G.I. Joe/Transformers reality; or even just something just as simple as a reality where Snake-Eyes talks :p ).

And I don't think there'd be really difficult licensing issues with this property.

With all the discussion of Wizards and what they produce (or don't produce) enough of (or too much of) what is something that could make a decent supplement that has not been done but that you think there is a strong need for?

You know I’m going to get maimed for suggesting it but hey it’s better than suggesting it on WoTC’s board where I would probably be killed.

Anyhow I would like to see the Book of the Chosen. This book would be for the Forgotten Realms and would consist of a template for a chosen of every deity.
