I do not thnk we should let ANYONE know that we are not really gone. If worst comes to worst and we need more supplies, then Aaron can magic himself into something else and get them. As far as havng someone watch the shop, Michael would be fine but he does not need to know we are not gone. As the crates won't have anything of importance in them, they can be scuttled over a cliff along with the wagon. I will get the most non-descript horses possible so that when they are found running around loose, no one will be able to pin them back to us. It is not a matter of trusting Michael, Although I do not because he is too simple, but a matter of protecting him. If someone does get wind of this, I do not want them to be able to probe him for information....If he does not have the info they can not get it from him. The number one rule of any operation....The fewer people that know the truth of the operations, the better its chances of success. Michael would make sense to watch the shop as people know we have dealt with him in the past, but it would be putting him in danger because everyone will think he knows more than he does. Someone more periphery might be better. The Dwarven Gemologist, or the weapons storekeeper both make sense as they have "business savvy" and know enough to not ask questions and neither are inextricably linked to us. The story of, 'they said they were going to be out of town for a while and asked me to make sure the shop was not disturbed and that is all I know', is more believable from them than Michael. And I agree with Nyla about the dog. It would take too much time to get it trained for going into tunnels etc. plus they take a lot of food that has to be carried and honestly I do not know how the dogs would react to each other. Training them to not go at each others throats would take some tme too.
