Matthew Sprange, Mongoose Publishing, Discusses Traveller and Paranoia

Seventeen years of writing and publishing RPGs like Conan, Babylon 5, Traveller, Legend, and Paranoia. Through Mongoose Publishing, Matthew Sprange continues to create RPGs designed to be played and enjoyed.
This week, Morrus and Peter are joined by Sam Webb from Black Cat Gaming and Modiphius to talk about The Spy Game, the 5e-based espionage thriller RPG on Kickstarter now! In the news, ENnie nominations, Pathfinder 2nd Edition adventure path previews, Fallout RPG released, a site outage at EN World, and more! Plus Our Favorite Game in All the World (with a brand-new theme song!) and a new sketch!

All of these projects end between July 19th through the 25th including a pair of D&D-inspired enamel pin Kickstarters. We’ve reached the week where I can properly cover EN Publishing’s A Touch More Class for 5e Kickstarter! Lots of good 5e options there (I can say with confidence as I back the Patreon and the original Kickstarter and have read/played these options).

D&D General The Evolution of Tieflings in D&D: Interviews with Zeb Cook and Colin McComb

I'd certainly use the PHB entry and the expansions in other products as the basis for the more diverse Tieflings in 5e, I've given a little thought to how one might handle variant abilities. Of course the appearance and origins of the characters are up to the player's personal choice. It's very useful to hear from Zeb Cook and McComb about Tielfings, but I think Monte Cook's opinions also...

D&D General 40 Million People Have Played D&D [UPDATED!]

I like the release of actual sales figures for the Starter Set. 126,000 in North America in 2014 (from the July release); 306,000 in North America in 2018. I wonder what we can extrapolate from that!
At PortConMaine I had the opportunity to sit in on Darren Watts' panel on superheroes in gaming. That panel merely scratched the surface of Darren's experience in the tabletop industry so I pounced on the opportunity to ask him about everything from tabletop gaming to playtesting.
Simply6 is a fast, light tabletop roleplaying game for 2 or more players which you can play using just six-sided dice. I put this together over the last couple of days in my spare time (based on something I was playing with in the forums a while back) and have uploaded it to DTRPG. It's only about 20-pages long, and will likely be tweaked and updated after I get some feedback.
EN5ider has another entry in the mini-adventure series today, a sidequest perfect for the city and guided by a unique enchanted deck of cards that make it something you can play more than once!
The Mythological Figures column / A Touch More Class experiment has thus far seen: Sherlock Holmes (using the savant), Nikola Tesla (built as a tinkerer), Billy the Kidd (the gunfighter), Paul Bunyan (a monster tamer alongside Babe the blue ox), and last week Harry Houdini (fatebender in the house!) The Kickstarter is live right now (go pledge if you haven’t!) so I’m continuing the series, although today we’re going way, way back to the distant past, far from the literary and historical figures we’ve recently looked at.

White Dwarf Revisited — Issue #4 Dec/Jan 1977/1978

Amid the fungi and dense foliage of a forest, a timid a warrior fends off the brazen attacks of raven with murderous intent. Alice in Dungeonland, Monsters of Mild Malign and Hyboria all receive top billing. Quarter page ads for Warriors of the Lost Continent (miniatures), Games Centre, The Specialist Game Shop, and SD & VM Steel (the low cost mail order specialists for all your board...
Hello everyone, Darryl here with this week’s gaming news! More previews for Descent into Avernus, Pathfinder 2nd Edition, and Shadowrun 6th Edition, plus a new D&D-inspired video game, D&D for the visually impaired, Fallout RPG released, and more!

Rough Nights & Hard Days: A Review

Built with the aim of rejecting linear adventure writing, this slim collection of tales for Warhammer Fantasy RPG’s fourth edition blends the tangled storytelling of a Shakespearean farce with a generous helping of the blood, darkness and doom that are the setting’s calling-cards.

Gavin Norman, Necrotic Gnome, Talks Old-School Essentials and D&D 5E Dolmenwood

Gavin Norman founded Necrotic Gnome to produce rules, adventures, and settings for Basic/Expert D&D. He’d played D&D as a kid in the 80s and when he returned to gaming as an adult he tried D&D 4E and Pathfinder. Because Basic D&D does not have rules for everything it requires a discussion between players and GM which Gavin enjoys. Instead of rolling to detect traps a player describes what and where they are searching which he found appealing. He decided he wanted to return to a simpler game that was more open ended.
This week, Morrus and Peter take a look at the Acquisitions Incorporated sourcebook for Dungeons & Dragons! In the news, WotC is looking for a new Executive Producer for D&D, a preview from Descent into Avernus (if you’re not chicken), new D&D 5e inspired video game announced, Chivalry & Sorcery getting a fifth edition, and more!

Pathfinder 2E Pathfinder 2nd Edition 'Age of Ashes' AP: Hellknight Hill

That's a mouthful! The first adventure from the Age of Ashes adventure path for Pathfinder 2nd Edition is called Hellknight Hill, and is available for pre-order.
