D&D 5E Reworking Spell Lists (Reducing "Sameyness")

I'm good with both Hypnotic Pattern and Slow being Arcane. Hypnotic Pattern I agree is top tier, and slow is just under it. (If Hypnotic Pattern is an A, Slow is a B+).

Yeah!

also @Fenris-77, would you prefer having Misty Step or Thunder Step in the Arcane Sphere? Honestly I'm not sure I'm a big fan of teleporting powers on the Primal Sphere, so by switching some spells, I think I prefer having them both in the Arcane Sphere.

Why not swap one of lightning bolt or fireball for it(TS). Or maybe that's too much with Call Lighnting. Hmm. I'm not greedy, but I think on of the two could be arcane.
Honestly, large AoEs like Fireball and Lightning Bolt, as well as short range teleports like Misty Step and Thunder Step, both feel pretty Arcane to me.

One thing I was thinking about in the original thread was giving specialist enhancements to spells. If we look at the specialist wizards like the Evoker and the Illusionist they can do things to their evocations and illusions that normal wizards can't. And the life cleric of course gets better healing than anyone else although this is only by degree.

If instead of this we were to give most spells an enhanced version which went to anyone who had the ability to enhance based on one of their keywords it would allow for flexibility while letting the characters have much more meaningful specialisations than they currently have in most cases.

I actually thought misty step to the Druid was very cool. I'm still really into the Fey druid concept. Just perhaps not thunderstep as well.

These spells are case where for myself, if one list gets one spell, the other spell goes in the other list. I definitely don't want both in the same list.

Animate Dead (Cleric/Wizard) (C,W)
Yikes! Should Cleric be able to make/control and turn undead? Or should Wizard get it? I have always been a fan of the evil priest with hordes of undead and it wouldn't make sense for them to be able to control them if they couldn't make them...
I'm totally on board with this being default Divine. Necromancer Wizards can grab it easily.

Bestow Curse (Cleric/Druid*) (B,C,W)
A tough one. Given the hexy/witchy nature Druid is moving, I think Druid might be a better fit, but it is open.
I've seen some pushback on the "witchy druid" vibe, so I'm happy to move this back to Divine as one of the original reversible spells.

Create Food and Water (Cleric/Druid*) (C,P)
For me this is simple, but I know TwoSix was originally thinking Druid.
Hop back to Divine for this.

Enemies Abound (Wizard/Cleric*) (B,S,War,W)
Since this is person-affecting, I think that is why TwoSix went to Cleric, but I think the madness-affecting style of Wizard would be a better fit.
Any of the 3 works for me for this (I found @vincegetorix explanation of it as a primal rage intriguing).

Feign Death (Cleric/Druid) (B,C,D,W)
Who KNOWS!? All big 3 get this spell.
Feign Death = playing opossum = animals = primal, that's as far as I got. If it's more of a necromantic masking of life forces, divine or arcane can fit.

Hunger of Hadar (Druid*/Cleric*) (War)
While I was thinking Druid, and TwoSix Cleric, I think after moving Arms of Hadar to Wizard, I am sure this will likely follow.
Star lore = arcane, definitely.

Life Transference (Cleric/Druid*) (C,W)
While Cleric and Wizard (and I was thinking Cleric at first), giving the necro nature I am actually leaning towards Druid now as a way Druids can heal.
I love this for primal, unless we say necro falls fully under divine.

Slow (Wizard/Cleric*) (S,W)
Since this is a physically-affecting spell, I think that was why TwoSix went with Cleric (sort of like another Hold Person). Still, since it applies to any creature, I like it for Wizard but I could go either way.
This works for arcane...this is more time based, thinking on it more, which falls in the arcane category.

Summon Lesser Demons (Wizard/Cleric*) (War,W)
Given the extraplanar nature, I was going Wizard, but with the Cleric/Warlock idea I think TwoSix decided Cleric fits better for that reason.
I'm leaning towards arcane here, since it's demons. I generally associate divine = lawful = devils, and arcane = chaotic = demons, but that is admittedly head canon.

Thunder Step (Druid/Wizard) (S,War,W)
Well, I was thinking Misty Step was the precursor to Dimension Door for Wizard, so I think Thunder Step mighe work for Druid. I would be fine with this going to Wizard, but then Misty Step should be in Druid (or vice versa).
I'm actually pretty good with short range teleports being an arcane thing.

Vampiric Touch (Wizard/Druid*) (War,W)
I could see this going either way, so I would defer to Druid for the necro aspect if others agree.
Same argument as Life Transference. How strong is the opposition to playing up the creepy, witch vibe of primal with curses and some necromancy?

The High Aldwin
Overall, the current spell count through level 3 is:
Cleric - 69, Druid - 72, Wizard - 85

Wizard is approaching the maximum improved length I want to see for myself, but hopefully it won't get about 25-30% greater than Cleric and Druid.

Then lets rebalance a little with the next spell levels!

Arcane Sphere
Arcane Eye

Dimension Door
Evard's Black Tentacle

Greater Invisibility
Leomund's Secret Chest
Locate Creature (I think cleric could be better. Like, its a questing knight spell: ''find the dragon'' and all that)
Mordenkainen's Faithful Hound
Mordenkainen's Private sanctum (maybe let cleric have this one so they have one ''housing spell'' before Temple of the Gods?)
Phantasmal Killer
Storm Sphere
Vitriolic Sphere (Arcane got ''spheres'', Primal got ''walls'' : Go Geomancers!)
Watery Sphere

Divine Sphere
Aura of Life
Aura of Purity (could be druid)
Banishment
Compulsion
Death Ward

Dominate Beast
