So, looks like exteriors of Alnwick were used in...at least the first Harry Potter film? And some of the interiors were used a lot in Downton Abbey. Generally, the outside looks like a very rugged and sturdy castle, but the inside is very fancy. You have to scroll down quite a way in the Google image search results to get to one picture of the interior, so I guess the place gets used a lot for exterior filming and events.
Specifically, the broomstick lesson sequence. I doubt they are using the interior - too modern.

Another place I have visited. I think the film crew are following me around!

Apparently the Forgotten Realms Wiki confirms this!

Just in case that wiki also claims the Book of Vile Darkness movie is a sequel to the Jeremy Irons d&d movie and the Wrath of the Dragon God movie, which it definitely isn't!

So not entirely right, but still...

The Yawning Portal will be an important set-piece.

That moves it from Neverwinter to Waterdeep.

Though that article was written back in 2016... And Roy Lee is no longer attatched.

DISREGARD. Though I'll leave my mistake for all to see.

"Chainmail" is a great old-school project name to use in-house, before it was known this was the D&D movie, but it won't be the movie title, as it means nothing to the general public.
