Gosh, Wizards of the Coast gets to do whatever they want with their own intellectual property. What a shocking and unpredictable turn of events. Everything is terrible, the sky is falling, etc.

Looks like some people have decided to be nothing short of furious at Wizards of the Coast, no matter what they do or how they do it. I really don't see the problem with the news coming out of WotC today...seems like a huge win for everyone involved. Haters gonna hate, I guess.

Alderaan was a military target. The evils of the Jedi, Republic, and First Order were unleashed on civilians.
An entire planet was a military target? Seriously?

Also, no, it wasn't. It was a peaceful planet that they blew up just to make Leia talk.

Let's also not forget the massive slavery, complete loss of civil freedoms and various other goodies the Empire was doing.

While I get that the idea that the Jedi weren't good. Fair enough. But, last I checked, they didn't blow up planets just to make a point.

You should look at D&D Beyond and Reddit. It's 10 times worse on those sites than it is here.

On second thought, don't look at those sites.

Yeah, I came here from Reddit to post that. It's a mess out there.

There are people out there arguing that Wizards of the Coast is committing a crime for making money off of their own intellectual property. This is money that should be given to them instead, because they're obviously more worthy. Yeah.

And there are people out there who want Wizards of the Coast to go bankrupt...they have wanted it so badly for so long, and after years of watching WotC prosper, they really really hoped that this time they were done for. But now that doesn't seem to be the case, and they hate it so much that they will do and write and believe anything to convince others to hate them also.

I'll be so relieved when all of this finally blows over.

Literally every character from Alderaan seen in the movies is an anti-Imperial terrorist, and according to the best intelligence available at the time Alderaan was the headquarters for the biggest known military base that had just made the largest naval attack against the government since the Clone Wars. The person who claimed they were a "peaceful planet" with "no weapons" was a known Alderaanian militant enemy who was captured (while armed) on a literal warship, staffed with a military regiment.

So, yes, a military target.

Let's also not forget the massive slavery, complete loss of civil freedoms and various other goodies the Empire was doing.

Name a single time the Empire is shown supporting slavery in a Star Wars movie. I can't think of a single one. Do you know who we actually see taking part in slavery? The Jedi. Under the rule of the Jedi and the Republic, slavery is not only allowed on Tatooine, but supported. Qui Gon literally takes part in the slave trade economy when they visit. And no Jedi, not even Anakin, returns to free the slaves of Tatooine. It is an accepted part of the economy in the Republic. And how about those clones? Do you think any of the soldiers in the Republic were given a choice about their servitude?

As a side note, the slaves seen on Kessel in "Solo" were owned by the Pyke Syndicate, which was considered a criminal organizations by both the Republic and the Empire.

The slavery issue is just like the Imperial "racism" I discussed above. The people we see committing these crimes in the movies aren't the Empire, but rather the Republic; the Jedi. If you have any evidence of "complete loss of civil freedoms" in the movies actually attributable to the Empire in the movies, I'd love to hear it.

There was someone trolling on D&D Beyond (most likely a sockpuppet) that started spamming in the main thread yelling in all caps that the new OGL is even worse than the leaked draft version. Which it very clearly is not.
