D&D (2024) Treantmonk's Ranger DPS video:

Once again… I am just saying I would prefer people cared about other things than this in their games.
Why do people care more about white room math than being a good player?

Why do people think that you can't roleplay if you have a mechanically sound character?

You can tell what the designer would have changed if they weren't beholden to backwards compatibility.

5e needed a few whole new changed subsystems and added content.

Like Rangers needed rewritten zephyr strike.
they were NOT beholden to it.

they decided THEMSELVES to do it.

and it was a mistake.
they could have done much more.

Glad you all are in private conversations with the designers to hear their real opinions on this. I mean, I only get to listen to their interviews where they seem proud of the work they did and the direction they chose, intrigued by the challenges it presented, and happy with the result.

Maybe you all can release those private conversations you've had with them where they lament the fact that they were forced to make this horrible mistake that utterly ruined the game that they REALLY wanted to make. Let people know the "real truth" of the situation. Otherwise, it seems a lot like you are just letting your own personal opinions about the design decision to color your perceptions and cause you to insist that they truly hated this direction in private, despite there being no evidence of that in public materials.

Based on what standard are you judging it a mistake?

In broad terms 5.5 is a big improvement imho.

Minor negatives are things like no half elves or orcs.

Main negative its more of the same. Not even a negative really just early adopter of 5E and pmsyed it a lot.

After 5E sales it was obvious they wouldn't do anything to drastic.
