(5.24 PBP) Vault Redux (OOC) Fitz's Refresher

Rather than use Fog, I think a minor illusion just below the sill of the parapet on the watchtower would work better as a distraction. The loud squeaks of a handful of rats, with the whip of a few tails just below the sightlines might draw more attention for when the four bail out, and won't cause suspicion if nothing is found.

I still maintain you shouldn't draw attention to anything - just go and if you're seen, then you do something. I'm not trying to tell you how to play, obviously cast as you think best. This is just my opinion, sounds may draw attention of disinterested guards and they might actually see you or register that we changed the number.

I think @Kobold Stew may have misunderstood one of my posts, so I'm going to explain it, just in case anyone else felt the same. They DID respond to your shouting the password. They waved the flag and waited, then you shouted, then they waved the flag again and went back to what they were doing.

From the ground it should have seemed like a fairly obvious warning, then password, then acceptance of the password, but I can see how Kobold may have thought that they simply repeated the same "flag wave". In reality, it would have come off as a conclusion, not a repeated action.

I hope that makes sense.

At any rate, groups are split - I just need to know, because it was a little up in the air - who is the THIRD PC who is on Team Caves? I know Urgan and Torhak, and I think that it is supposed to be @Snarf Zagyg Shamal, is that right? Everyone else is still on the wagon, I believe.

Well, originally there were supposed to be four people in the caves group, because it was assumed that there would be more combat that way.

Have to say, not sure about re-arranging. Mostly because now we have an unarmored melee character and ranged characters going into the caves (which are close quarters, usually), short one PC, and we added muscle to the group that's not supposed to be fighting. But then again, it's like the ambush... we'll muddle through it.

But Shamal is in the caves group. Oh, and not that it matters ... probably ... but Shamal is human. So no Darkvision.

Apropos of nothing, I've been binging the latest season of Taskmaster, and all of this... it feels very much like we're doing a Taskmaster scenario. I think I'm just going to Jason Mantzoukas it.

Okay, I'll go to the caves - especially if Corrah isn't staying.

I just thought the Bluff group might need a front line melee in case things went poorly. (PS, Merrick doesn't have darkvision either. Nor does he wear armour)

That's 4 in the caves and 3 in the Bluff. On the bright side, if they get captured, there's two other groups to come save them.

That's not a bad assumption either, but I was working with the idea that the bluff group wouldn't be dealing with combat much, or at least a lot less, than the group going into the caves. Admittedly, I am a traditionalist and have that old school brain so when I hear "Kobold caves," I tend to default to some hazy vision of B2 which means less "We come in peace" and more "Shoot to kill."

I do think the caves group is better that is melee heavy, and the bluff group should be prepared with an exit strategy if the bluffing isn't working.
