I will stick with 3.5. I personally don't feel like pumping more $ into Wizards pocket. After collecting over 20 hardbacks for 3.5 . I don't want to wait 6 more years for 4e to flesh out. I am comfortable with 3.5 and my players state emphatically they will not purchase 4e .
I agree most of them are quite sound but my group has really enjoyed Red Hand of doom so far
They also liked this one that you didn't mention Sons of Gruumsh it is a forgotten realms adventure but easily adaptable to any world IMO
A friend that I played Avalon Hill board games with came back from WinterWar Con all excited. " Dude you got to try this new game (D&D) its like playing Lord of the Rings Man! It was all over , we rarely played our old Avalon Hill stuff after that. And that was over 30 years ago
Mine too the maps are Judges Guild/CityStates with different scale and political boundarys
but 99% of the NPCs are all original and several different campaigns Dungeons are here there and everywhere. I only have 1 original dungeon and its yet to be found
Our D&D group still has 3 players from 1979 and 4 more from 1982 still playing together in 2007. Until last year we still were using/playing characters going back to "82".
Kudo's to you because I know how hard it is.
I ran it as a RPGA judge years ago. I think it was a bit too structured and forced for my taste. But that was R3 maybe as a mega module it is a bit more free form.
I think the 2 levels of ranger are wasted since you don't get the rapid shot until the 2nd ranger level. Better to use those 2 levels as fighter levels since you can take rapid shot feat as the bonus fighter feat or better still weapon specialization plus you get the d10 for hp and you will...
I feel sorceror is the best choice using only PHB classes as a base. 1st of all some race needs to have it as a base and if you claim gnomes have a magical nature it fits the bill better than bard. To be honest if you really use LoTR as your guide hobbits/halflings would be better suited as...
I totally agree
with 3.0/3.5 making 2nd is not a chore at all. I also used 20000 xp to start my Old 1st/2nd ed game for the same reasons as it was never fun to spend months making 2nd level.
