Day 45: Making Plans, Day 10, Part 5
Merin asks Myth...
A pair of sentries from the southwest, approaches the fire and begins speaking with the woman, there. The words cannot be heard, but the sentries shake their heads, no, and then the man points emphatically to the south. The wild hair woman the yells at them, pointing to the south.
"Geudeul-eul chaj-ala"
The man takes a hunk of food from the spit, handing some to his partner as the two then depart.
Merin chooses to ignore his previous question,
"They saw you?"
Myth nods yes like a person would. Merin nods, then adds,
"Did any others see you?"
Myth shakes his head no like a person would. Turtle, fascinated by the exchange, imitates nodding and shaking his head.
After this, there is a shrill whistle from the direction of the camp. A second woman is walking down make-shift stairs from a dwelling in the haunted tree. She puts her hand to her mouth and the shrill whistle repeats. She then engages the other woman at the fire in an apparent conversation. The conversation is animated and aggravated. The two women do not appear angry with one another but angry at the same thing.
During the conversation, a pair of sentries arrive from the north and a third woman comes down from the tree.
Sheldon, alarmed, whispers,
"I think they are calling in the other sentries to question them. They will be expecting a pair from this direction."
Indigo adds,
"We may be able to use this, but we would have to act fast. Sheldon and I or Sannit and Bolo could walk directly toward them, playing the part of the sentries. It is dangerous and abrupt. The other option I see is to hide and wait for the search to begin in this direction for the missing sentries."
Merin asks Myth...
Myth cocks his head in lack of understanding. Merin then simplifies his phraseology since the cat is still learning. It takes a few tries to get him to understand. Amazingly, Myth demonstrates an ability to count. He walks in a circle once looking up at Merin. He then walks the circle again stopping at 4 distinct spots patting the damp ground with his paw at each. Turtle looks on with interest at Myth's demonstration.Did you see any pairs standing around?
Once again it takes a few tries for Merin to convey his desire. Myth walks the same circle tapping the same locations then looks of a Merin confused. As Merin tries to think of a way to explain the difference between alone and pairs, Sheldon who is facing the cook fire, stops him, gesturing for everyone to look.Tellerian said:Did you see any lone people, especially female?
