I love the special thanks.

This project was made possible by Roll20. Thank you for unlocking new horizons for the latest generation of planewalkers, bashers, berks, and touts. We’d also like to thank the giants on whose shoulders we stand when writing this book: Justice Ramin Arman, Richard Baker, Wolfgang Baur, David “Zeb” Cook, Bruce R. Cordell, Jeff Grubb, David Noonan, F. Wesley Schneider, Rick Swan, and all others who helped create and cultivate Planescape and the planes.

I've just bought it and am reading it now.

Here is the table of contents.

Reading some more and it’s clear they must have worked with WotC. Not sure how close but I’d bet they had info I’d think would have been covered by an NDA.

I’m rather impressed that y’all managed to get some of these things in and still be so useful with the WotC box set.
Like Fro said, we did not work directly with WotC on this. Waaaay back when Jim Butler ran the Official Setting Fan Site program for WotC, Planewalker got early access to a couple books, but that was 20 years ago. I haven't had direct contact like that with WotC since back then.

So far I've only been able to indirectly work with WotC a couple times through their licensed partners. One of which was back in 3.5 days when some spells I wrote for Paizo's Dragon Magazine were compiled in a WotC hardcover (Spell Compendium). So technically I was published in a WotC hardcover even though I never had any direct contact with WotC on that, just indirectly through their licensed partner.

But, no, we did not directly work with WotC on this, although I'd love to on any future products either to provide coordinated DMs Guild support or even freelance writing! (Just in case any of them are reading this.) ;)

Tiny typo on page 62:
"which is now titled at an uncomfortable 45 degree angle"

Page 72:
"literal through-provoking creatures"

Gotta say the quotes are pretty fun and really feel right.
Thanks! As much as we try, especially with something this big, tpyos will sneak in. As much as many people would like a POD version sooner rather than later, this is one of the reasons why it's handy to wait. So far I don't think there's been anything too egregious or game mechanic altering that we've caught, but it's easy to update a PDF. Once you get a printed copy, however, that's that.

By framing your like of something ABOUT disliking WOTC yeah, I am not interested in your view because I question if it's more about the anti-WOTC thing. And sure enough, the guy had not even read it or the WOTC product he was comparing it to. My instincts were right - it was wise to dismiss a review framed that way, because it turned out it wasn't even a real review it was more an instinctive "I hate WOTC and here is reason 4572 for it."

And yes of course it works the other way but no not if someone likes everything X does and that was not my point. It works the other way if someone frames their dislike of a third party product by constantly claiming it's deficient in not being as awesome as a WOTC product (for your example). It's about framing their dislike of Y because they like X. It's framing praise purely in a context of why you hate everything about some other company that makes me rightly suspicious of the revie

I own both products actually, although getting my physical copy of the AitM was a complete nightmare and I will will never buy directly from WotC again for physical product

Uh, this is literally what you said at the time:

So far I've only read the 17 page free preview because...I'm low on cash and honestly the exchange rate isn't my friend.

And I want to see if they came out with Pod + PDF option later on.

And then this

I only have access to the first 17 pages, but besides very little art in it, but honestly I don't care. I admit the price is high for a PDF with as far as I can tell little art, BUT it's filled to the brim with actual content/lore/mechanics instead which is more important. Later parts may have maps I don't know. It may have a high price because it has alot of writers.

So when you "reviewed" it relative to the WOTC product, which is what I was responding to, you had not even read it.

The quasi elemental or para elemental or both are hinted at in the DMG in the section on the Inner Planes:

"The Inner Planes surround and enfold the Material Plane and its echoes, providing the raw elemental substance from which all worlds were made. The four Elemental Planes — Air, Earth, Fire, and Water — form a ring around the Material Plane, suspended within a churning realm known as the Elemental Chaos. These planes are all connected, and the border regions between them are sometimes described as distinct planes in their own right."
They are not just hinted at. The map on page 57 straight up shows the planes of ice, ooze, ash and magma. :)

I just noticed that The Isle of Dread is on the plane of water. It's the same island shape as the module.
It's mentioned in the text, too: per the DMG (which as has been established, is public facing Canon :p ) the Isle of Dread is a part.of the plane of Elemental Water that slips between worlds on Ocean pperipherals. Kind of felt like that indicated they planned to do something with that, but...not yet.
