(OOC) DND 3.5 The Flames of War

I will see if you settle on a relation to the bard, beside that I should be fine to write a start for

@Neurotic Let me know when you have your profession in mind as to what you have been doing to keep a roof over your head all these years outside of being a noble (Note: no skill of note is an option

I didn't. I am a noble. Carousing, gambling, and causing bad rep for the family, but always knowing the right person, high or low to get out of trouble. And never remaining indebted in any way, even if it is only giving food to a beggars help

I'll check the list

@TaranTheWanderer

Inn Keeper, when creating your character add two ranks into Gather Information and Listen. These skills are always treated as Class skills. I don't see any issue with the background chosen, there is a Rogue's Gallery in the first post you can link to when your character is created.

Cool. thanks.

I think I'll go straight Fighter, in the end. I might take skill focus Knowledge Nobility at some point unless there's some way to get it as a class skill.

1. Baron's Tower; The Baron's Tower is in the center of town, the Baron has plans to create walls around this tower. It is built on a man made stone rising, the most senior knight protects the door. The Baron plans for this to be his Donjon
2. Healer; Overlooking the bay a circular temple holds the towns mystic, they are said to sleep very little and be in constant attendance to the community. There is no bed as the attendant of the shrine doesn't sleep.
3. Livery; This is the Baron's Stable, his horses and his knights horses are kept here. A burly man and his wife works the Livery for the Baron.
4. Marketplace; The market place quarters is populated with small store fronts and pop up tents, during the hours of light many things can be purchased here.
5. Smithy; The smithy is located next to the Baron Tower, as it is one of the most important establishments. The craftsman and his apprentices spend large times seeking to hone their craft.
6. Schoolhouse; The Baron has openly sought to train the young commoners of the town, those who have the coin can learn to read, write, translate, and more here. The Baron's advisor has set his own apprentice to the task of teaching the common folk.
7. Wrights' Passage; The only shipwright and wainwright in town, its ran by a short gnome who craft has hosted most transportation for the town.
8. The Stone Wardens; These three warriors overlook the bay, when Baron Graywarden was first given this land it was unpopulated but these three stone statues were here. The Baron took it as a divine sign and as such Grey Camp was formed.
9. The Last Tent; Fish, Chicken, and Grains are found here, the Inn features multi story resting place for the weary traveler. It is said to be owned by the Baron's Brother, while not a warrior Delfen Greywarden has kept alive the family business his brother would forget.
10. The Barracks; This is where commoner training is held by a select few of the baron's knights, climbing to the top of the stone plateau commoners learn the basics of spear weaponry. There are few cots for the knights and commoners learn field training in tent preparation, most feel as they are conscripts for a coming war.
11. Town Jail; Small cages where people are shoved into and hung to the elements behind the walls. This is where people serve their time for crimes committed.

I will go with jeweller as a skill, a novle needs to be good with evaluating who's real and who's fake ;)

@OneCrappy DM Can you post initial post with the map in IC now that we have few characters?

Also, can you suggest a minor noble house family name, I don't want to be one of the major players which could be problematic from game perspective, but someone known. Ideally, old family, but poor, maybe holding on the "old ways" whatever controversial stuff that means in-game (druidism?).

@doghead suggested a link between characters...if @TaranTheWanderer wants so we can play it like we're all childhood friends - with the ranger being a ward (an orphan raised in the castle), fighter being a bodyguard/playmate and the bard being the bodyguards 'ward') - CN elf would explain why the noble son got into so much trouble...and depending on Tarans alignment, he might be quietly suffering along (and trying to get us out of the trouble before it escalates) or being one of the gang of troublemakers...

I guess if one is a half elf and one is an elf, we aren't going to be cousins/brothers....unless...the half elf is a cousin to both of us!
Edit: did not realize the bard was human. I totally misread that. Anyways, the rest can stand.

Was my character's father or uncle a bit of a philanderer? It might be a reason why the two of us were sent off to this part of the country, my character just being sent because the grandfather decided his grandson needed to be raised by a more 'responsible' son(my character's uncle), the half-elf sent away because of shame.

I haven't decided if my character wants to break the cycle of shame that is his father or if he constantly gets caught up in shameful activities.

In any case, I would see that nobody would admit the half-elf were related in any way (if we went that way).

@doghead might have a completely different idea

@Neurotic of household Montfort, lesser known family in the Stormbearer Barony. The house remains faithful to the old ways, that a warrior serves his leader and doesn't conspire against him, due to this the head of the house has little fame or money for they seek loyalty. The household after generations has not stirred or made waves that would sully their name. While gambling away and living life in debauchery has been interesting you have picked up the skills of a jeweler along the way, be it to stretch winnings a bit further or not get fooled on a deal, you gain two ranks in appraisal and two ranks in spot. These are always considered class skills for you.

A character connection of growing up as kids would be more difficult considering all of the age differences, status differences, and need not be reason for anything as I have written the adventure with no need for ties of any kind.

@TaranTheWanderer Baron Greyshroud is a new Baron, his Barony was recently given to him for his battle efforts. Grey Camp is also a young town, Greyshroud comes a family of Inn keepers and he sought something more and made a name for himself. The Baron's brother, your character's father, wanted to capitalize and open the first Inn in the town that the Baron would make.

I was under the impression that you were playing a human, if you want a link to an older noble family we could do that. I just need to make sure what is in the rogue's Gallery is what you are playing, as for name I will call upon your reference as Taran for now.

With all that said I have enough background Impressions to begin the campaign and will open up an ICC within 24 hrs of now (Could be sooner)
