Yes, my wife is one. What are you implying?
Touchy, touchy, you know exactly what I'm implying, please don't get defensive.
Yes, my wife is one. What are you implying?
My wife plays D&D but she's more of a casual gamer that likes the roleplaying part of the game. But I'd put money on it that she would be the best looking gamer at any con (half Egyptian; half Afghan)I've seen helpless gamer guys tremble in their boots when meeting her.
Even I was surprised she wanted to play D&D when I first met her![]()
So gamers who play D&D are less attractive than gamers in general?
Now that Steely Dan's rather offensive side-trek (which I won't share with my wife) has been roundly shot down
Of course by the same token so do the guys.
Gaming in general certainly doesn't encourage a very healthy lifestyle and appeals to a certain demographic that we all see time and time again at conventions, and any place where gamers/nerds/geeks gather. The stereotypical smelly socially inept overweight gamer is a reality that we all have experienced, and Steely was simply pointing out that this phenomenon is not gender specific.
Gamers sit and read books, sit and play videogames, sit and play D&D, sit and prepare for D&D, sit and talk about preparing for D&D, talk about nerfs/buffs for their favourite class in their favourite MMO, talk about comics while sitting, and throw down snack foods, and other unsavory things quite often during their game time. Is it any wonder that the majority are obese and unappealing?
Certainly not the rule, but you can't deny that there are a lot of people that fit Steely's description. I have met a lot more unattractive gamers than attractive ones in my time, on both genders.
I don't really care, my girlfriend doesn't play either, but the reason why people are getting defensive is because of your first post. The way you framed the question, "...have you seen the women who play this game voluntarily?" implies that all women are unattractive who play D&D. Regardless of any further clarification, there's the answer to why people are defensive. Why is everyone getting so defensive, it's like some pathetic Wrath of the Geeks going on here?
