Heart of Artifice Temporary--Kharas Alone

(OOC: Nice! Or...it would be, but--he's using a bludgeoning weapon? :o)

*Kharas's attack proves only about half as effective as he expected, but still, it is a solid blow. However, as the swarm of metal shards and sickening rust envelops him, this time he becomes nauseated.*

(OOC: Kharas takes 6 more and is nauseated)

*Elysia fires her flamethrower in a line at the swarm and the zombie-like Unforged. The latter dodges out of the way and takes minimal damage, but the swarm is scorched badly and nearly destroyed.*

(OOC: US takes 7, UZ takes 1)

*Even though Kharas in nauseated, he still manages to block the shambling creature's attack a second time, as the swarm nearly staggers him, but leaves him unnauseated.*

(OOC: 4 damage to Kharas, he's at 1!)

*Elysia's flame shoots out again and finally destroys the swarm, though the corpse dodges most of it again.*

(OOC: 6 to swarm, 2 to corpse)

*Somehow, despite great luck on dodging the flames, the corpselike Unforged has terrible luck on attacking Kharas, and it misses again.*

(OOC: Kharas's turn)

"If I fall, use the scrolls of Cure Ligth wound I carry." tells Kharas as he immitates his previous attack.

[SBLOCK=OOC]Attack: 21 for 9 damage.[/SBLOCK]

*Elysia nods, and she sends her gout of flame out again, and it dodges again, but it misses Kharas again also.*

(OOC: 3 more from Elysia, total 15. Double drat! CR 3 my foot! It has only +3 to hit. Stupid MM

Kharas again)

Kharas continue to swing, hoping to get that zombie down, but ti seem sthe pain is overwhelming on the moment and make him swing badly.

[SBLOCK=OOC]CR3? That mean a balanced party of four lvl 3 character should find this encounter challenging but not life threatning... I don,t feel Kharas is that strong, so I'm quite happy the MM seems to have overevaluated that encounter... because I'll probably miss that attack with 13 to hit and 6 damage[/SBLOCK]

(OOC: You'd be surprised how close you were to hitting with 13 ;))

*Kharas misses with his attack, and the creature finally fails to dodge Elysia's flamethrower, which also squirts an above-average amount of liquid flame onto it. Still, burning and battered, it continues to assault Kharas.*

(OOC: Bleah, rolled a 9 for a modified 12--not even close to hitting!

As to the MM, it's usually wrong, and I know how wrong it will be. I just feel bad because LEB rules require me to give you XP for two-manning a supposedly CR 3 monster that never did anything but miss

Kharas again)

Kharas swing again at the creature. "Can you go down, creature!" shouts Kharas.

[SBLOCK=OOC] I find at 1 hp left, I have given my part of blood... :p Kharas seems to perform well: Attack: 18, damage: 9[/SBLOCK]

(OOC: You got it down to 1 HP with that attack ;))

*Barely clinging to unlife after Kharas's attack, the creature burns away despite dodging most Elysia's weak fire attack.*

(OOC: Victory! Apparently you get 900 XP for this. That's more than my level 4 Psion just got for beating a CR 7 monster by herself (because she had five pesky teammates who didn't help in the end, since she beat it by doing it Charisma damage and they were doing regular damage) )

"Whew, you're strong Mr. Kharas! Do you want me to heal you?"

"Damned unforged... if it was living, I would have killed it twice... but if it was alive, it wouldn,t attack us either." tells Kharas. he looks at his wounds and feels the adrenaline going away. "Yes, it would be good. I feel weak. that swarm was nasty.... why everytime I go down somewhere, I'm attacked. Is the dwarves the only race that keep safe his tunnels and gallery?" tells Kharas to himself.

"Maybe it's because you live down there. We don't mind that much as long as they aren't up in the city, where we live," Elysia points out, pulling out some Thelanium and some tools. There is a tiny blue glow from the back of her palm, revealing a symbol briefly that seems like a Least Dragonmark of Making, and by noticing that and losing attention on Elysia's hands, he misses a flurry of activity that begins as she tinkers with something. Before long, she has completed a strange sort of cast/body brace.

"Here--put this on over those cuts and it will accelerate your natural healing rate a whole bunch, at least until it runs out," Elysia offers.

Kharas puts teh barcer. "Thanks you. i hoep you've brought more Thelanium, as you would see working without it is pretty much more difficult."

How can she have a mark, she is partially construct... Not all half-humans can have a mark...

"Let's nto waste time. Other unforged could be attracted by the sound." tells Kharas as he lead Elysia foward.
